The IONZ were formed in 2002, and have been a mainstay in the underground Hawai'i Roots Reggae scene ever since. They have played just about every local major Reggae festival, as well as made the rounds of the club/bar scene. Veterans of KTUH Monday Night Live, their three sets showed the progression and growth of the IONZ sound. The band has undergone line-up changes over the years but has always stayed true to it's roots. Their live sets consist of an abundant cache of originals, as well as redefined and creative covers. Influences of all band memebers can be clearly seen and heard in their music. Not only are they an incredible band who can more than hold their own, last year they backed two international Reggae artists! First was Hawai'i born Joshua Alo, next was Likkle Mai, former lead singer of the legendary Japanese dub band Dry&Heavy. "Break The Chains", the IONZ debut album is in the final stages of production and will soon be released on Hawai'i/Philadelphia based Rumble Rock Recordz! These roots rockers are always ready and willing to jam your frequencies with their original, yet traditional, at times unorthodox sound. So, "come rally, come rally, come rally, come rally, around JAH music!", next time the IONZ are playing!
