I.O.U. is Kristian, Dagger, Ozzak, Gundersen and Vegard, five alienated Culture Industry employees rising from the ashes of the fine Norwegian hardcore acts Kids Like Us, Crash and The Union Policy. The band started out in 2002 and shortly after they recorded "A Cause For Anxiety", a 6-song e.p. of hardcorepunk mayhem. Since then I.O.U. has toured Europe four times and played tons of shows in their home country Norway. The LP/CD "I Owe You" was released last year as a split release by five diy labels (Dead Letter Records, Analemma Records, Kontrabande Records, Asyl Vinyl and Black Soul Family Records). The sound had by then drifted slightly from the early 80s hardcore influences traceable on their debut e.p., moving towards a heavier and more more melodic, yet crusty sound without losing the initial intensity. A new 5-song e.p. entitled "Under Filthy Wings" was released in August this year, this time around by the band itself on "I.O.U. Records". Expect furious hardcorepunk with a melodic touch.
