I'm Iowalisa and I run the Iowa Women's Music & Events blog at http://iowalisa.blogster.com (posted here too), which promotes concerts and events of interest to and featuring women in most of Iowa. I also help produce and coordinate the Iowa Women's Music Festival, held in September (September 19-20, 2008) in Iowa City, Iowa each year. Check out www.prairievoices.net and our IWMF myspace page, www.myspace.com/iwmf. I love producing other concerts and events throughout the year and bringing together the women's community. I've got a side biz called Stellar Kick Entertainment to do just that. I am a Mainstage techie, my other hobby of plug, chug, lift, carry, drag, and performer support, at the National Women's Music Festival (July 5-8 this year in Illinois). I spend a lot of time volunteering and enjoying great music at Legion Arts/CSPS, Cedar Rapids' premiere music venue for the best in indie music and touring singer-songwriters from around the world. Visit www.legionarts.org. I also help produce a monthly coffeehouse concert series at my church, the very open-minded Faith United Methodist Church, www.crfaithumc.org. Anyone coming through Iowa who wants to book it, send me an e-mail. Last but not least, I also write a women's event column and other odds and ends for Iowa's State-wide gay newspaper, Accessline. Those guys in Waterloo do it well and never tire. Hats off! And for the occasional guy who stops by, I love you all too. Some of my favorite guy singer-songwriters can probably be considered honorary women in music (grin); they have that special way of connecting emotionally that I appreciate (e.g. Peter Mulvey, Willy Porter, and Shawn Mullins, to name a few).
