kento oiwa, michiko swiggs, william goldsmith, (and that frank guy helps us with publicity/management and is here to help spread the word about iqu. he's our number one fan!)
Influences
Everything we love (which is pretty much all kinds of music) influences music we make.. Here are some stuff we can think of top off our head.. old albums (jazz, soul, disco, classic rock), Hall & Oats, ninja tune, hip hop, indie rock, prince, outkast, certain ratio, destiny's child, tribe called quest, my bloody valentine, cornelius, michael jackson(off the wall), moroder, new order, dirtbombs, syreeta, stevie wonder, squarepusher, plug, luke vibert, tlc, aaliyah, donna summer, taste of honey, klf, stone roses, and ZOMBIES!!
Sounds Like
It's like, what we'd like to call, Musical Bento Box!! We don't quite fit into a category. Listen w/ headphone. It's pretty psych...
It's been sometime.. A few years ago we were on K Records (once we were called icu) and toured shitload w/ The Flaming Lips, Mouse On Mars, Looper, Chix on Speed, Hovercraft, Unwound, SonicBoom(Spacemen3), Cornelius, etc... We played the first Coachella, This Ain't No Picnic, etc...You get the idea of our music. We make fun and beautiful pop music. Trippy too. Oh yeah, we got theremin too. It's played as it was meant to.

Now we got a drummer, William Goldsmith (The Fire Theft, Foo Fighters, Sunny Day Real Estate) back with us again. We're working on a new record which will be out on MUSICMINE RECORDS of Japan (Guitar Wolf, DMBQ, Ken Ishii, Rei Harakami etc.). So until we figure out the US release situation it's gonna be a Japanese import. Cool, huh?

For peeps whohave no idea who IQU is, here's some mag (blender, I think) blah-blah-ed about us..

Sun Q is IQUs foray into pop music while maintaining their trademark experimentation and DIY aesthetic, the kind that won over white belt wearing hipsters to back pack hip hop heads their first trip out. Theyre ready to add pop music lovers to a growing list of fans. Sun Q finds IQU diving head first into the disco of Moroder, the talk box funk of Zapp, the ambience of Eno, the 80s new wave of Renegade Soundwave and the pop of Gainesbourg & Hardy. And to make things even more interesting, theres a cover of Minnie Rippertons classic Loving You on theremin. IQUs studio work is polished, but their live shows border on that of two mad scientists in their laboratory trying to concoct the ultimate dance rock symphony.

Hi IQU, Would you mind taking a lOOk over these 2 petitions below & sign if you can, us chimps sure would appreciate the lOve & support, thank yOu,
-Chance the Chimp
Hunter and Lyons were removed last year from the Yerkes Primate Facility and sent to separate locations after 21 years together. Your help is vital to see that these two chimpanzees are reunited together in permanent sanctuary - forever.
Chimps, are very social and share more common traits with us then just their DNA. After Hunter and Lyon's 21 years of 'use' in 'science' they were then separated. (Imagine if that were you, they feel just the same.) Please show them the compassion from us humans that they deserve and let them be in a sanctuary for the rest of their lives.. TOGETHER. These chimps have gone through enough trama being in the research facilityand their only solace, being 21 years, has been taken from them now too. so please help and sign the petition and get them reunited. :) It is the least we can do.
This petition is for the chimpanzees who have been imprisoned and experimented on for biomedical research & deserve to live out the remainder of their lives with dignity and peace and that is why it is so important to retire them to a permanent sanctuary. Some have been waiting for as long as 40 and 50 years. They have given so much to human's. It is time we do the compassionate thing. Your signature and that of others will build a strong voice. Sign today and please email friends and family. Get as many people to do the same.
Dreaming of toys and treats! Seasons Greetings IQU, A warm thanks for finding us, please don’t forget about us chimps this holiday season, we sure do need every friend these days! LOve & furry chimp hugs, XO <<~Petra the Chimp~>> ~Hi KO!~
Absolutely loved Chotto Matte a Moment (did I say it right?) Great album, especially Yopparai. Enjoying your new sounds on myspace too. There's new music on the Morris space, with more arriving soon. All the best - James

I have seen you guys play so many times its ridiculous. A bunch of times on accident, some on purpose, but I must admit its been a while since the last time I've seen your show. Always very nice!
I saw you play at the Wherehouse in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. My friend and I were in the next room when you started your set and then we heard what sounded like an opera singer. It was the theremin. We looked at each other with glee. We raced to see you.
