Basil and carnations
Have been laughing all
Day
The nightingale’s back from
Vacation assembling songbirds
And the verve to usher in the new
Vigor
The naked trees shower beneath the
Rain, fevered roots, roused to prowl
Impassioned and entwined, anxious
To mate and labor effervescence, as
The splinters gently wash away

Intoxicated by the soar
The soul & the ghost dance
To the lucid refrain at heaven’s
Gates
The chaste anemones may blush yet
Never to resist a glimpse at the barren
Rose

Summons sent, subpoenas served, spring
The last fair judge back to hold court, and
Frantic the December thieves steal-away
Miracles of yesteryears soon forgotten
Alas life conjures all new spells to
Enchant the universe, the void
Awe-inspiring
Refurnished to nurse a new
Breed, a sprawling galaxy
At his feet, taking every
Precaution
To cushion the fall as
Eager we anticipate
The baby’s first step

Upon witching hour you
Can hear the seed crooning
In the cradle, as the child of
Light softly blossoms in the
Sacred garden and reins in
The lucidity, the feast is
Set
The gowns tailored
Listen; the Zephyr
Pours the wine, the
Cherubs
Serve hors d’oeuvre

Love’s no longer an icon
Hidden in stills, the guest
Of honor, shaking hands
Toasting the host and
Sharing memories

The orchids garnish
The lantern, the moths
Dance with the flame, the
Lilacs fragrance the air, and
The dead rise from the earth to
Stagger in shrouds, as none may
Ever escape the kiss of life, even
The pious is a lover, drunk and
Mocking sin, blasphemous is
The sober today, so you say
Cease
The portrayal, just listen
Smell the air, feel the pulse
Hear the song, see the shades
Savor the moment as it enfolds
…

And I do, for

Notes in a chord of souls
