   Iraq In Fragments's Blurbs
About me:

An opus in three parts, Iraq In Fragments offers a series of intimate, passionately-felt portraits: A fatherless 11-year-old is apprenticed to the domineering owner of a Baghdad garage; Sadr followers in two Shiite cities rally for regional elections while enforcing Islamic law at the point of a gun; a family of Kurdish farmers welcomes the US presence, which has allowed them a measure of freedom previously denied.

American director James Longley spent more than two years filming in Iraq to create this stunningly photographed, poetically rendered documentary of the war-torn country as seen through the eyes of Sunnis, Shiites, and Kurds. Winner of Best Director, Best Cinematography, and Best Editing awards in the 2006 Sundance Film Festival documentary competition, the film was also awarded the Grand Jury Prize at the 2006 Full Frame Documentary Film Festival.

Washington Transcripts (What is really being said in DC)

We need to get Iraq back down to where things were like in the Old West, like in our old days. That is what this surge business is about, get the place spilt up into places like Tombstone and Dodge City and then guys like: the Erp Brothers, Jesse James and Doc Holiday will come along and make everything all better. Anarchy first, then statehood and eventually we got nationhood, that’s a plan.

Diverting the Buddha the novel about Washington political hacks betraying democracy!

I really appreciated this movie - it's so difficult to know you are against this war... but to not really know what is going on for those who live in the country... this documentary shed some light on that aspect of things in a beautiful way.

Well, well, it's hard to win against a former Vice President... as someone said in The D-Word community, you should demand a recount! :-)

Anyway, congratulations on getting this far, James.
