IRATA's Major Malfunction and Colonel Panic mix a wicked combination of hip hop beats, industrial bass and noise, and 80's electro synth lines with dance sensibilities and punk rock attitude.
Started in 2006 as a fun outlet for their synthesizer fueled 1980’s electroclash amusement, IRATA has slowly morphed into a nearly full time venture for Panic who has made it his mission to get peoples asses shaking and feet moving to IRATA’s funky electro sound.
Colonel Panic has been involved in the Edmonton industrial music scene for almost seven years opening for influencial acts such as Combichrist, Mlada Fronta, and Memetic with his former project Coded. As a fan of squelchy synths and pounding rhythms, his passion for music is only rivaled by his love of retro computers and drum machines. This kid has a SID 6581 and he's not afraid to use it!
Major Malfunction is the former frontman for The Fabulous Bee Feeders, an Edmonton based hive minded rock group who had been gigging in Edmonton for years. Drawn to the warm analog synth sounds on such classic albums as "Abbey Road" (MiniMoog Madness), and "Who's Next" (ARP Attack), All Done set forth in search of synth heaven. While he is still searching, he has found temporary sanctuary in the ranks of IRATA!
