Prowadzi swoje trio - Multisound oraz rodzinne Głyk P.I.K Trio. Wcześniej liderował Irek Głyk Quartet. Gra w duecie z Bernardem Maselim (wibrafon - marimba). Współpracuje z projektem mate.o. Jako muzyk sesyjny współpracował z czołówką polskiego jazzu (Tomasz Stańko, Tomasz Szukalski, Jorgos Skolias, Ewa Uryga, Krzysztof Ścierański, Marcin i Mateusz Pośpieszalscy, Jacek i Wojtek Niedziala, Anthimos Apostolis, Stanisław Sojka, Piotr Wojtasik), i rock-pop (Mieczysław Szcześniak, Katarzyna Gertner, Reni Jusis, SBB, Krzak, Justyna Steczkowska, Paweł Kukiz). Występował na scenach w Polsce i poza jej granicami (USA, Niemcy, Francja, Dania, Włochy, Czechy, Słowacja, Ukraina, Austria, Anglia, Szkocja). Ma na swoim koncie autorski CD „Long Time”. Premiera drugiego solowego albumu artysty, "Step Ahead", miała miejsce na poczatku września 2008 r. Obecnie koncerty projektu Multisound promują wydanie płyty.
IREK GŁYK is a well-known and accomplished musician. Apart from playing vibraphone and drums he is also known for being skilled composer and arranger. He became interested in music in his childhood and from that time music became influential part of his life. He graduated from Karol Szymanowski Music College in Katowice. He was studying in the Jazz and Popular Music Department of Katowice’s Music Academy and was a bursar of the famous Berklee College of Music in Boston .He created and was the leader of Ireneusz Głyk quartet (which earned second place in “Jazz Juniors” in Cracow). Few years later he engaged in a new project – duet with Bernard Maseli (vibraphone + marimba) – their live performances were all spectacular successes so it was not a surprise when both artists decided to reopen this project. Apart from it Irek Głyk is now the leader of his newly formed band – Irek Głyk Multisound and he also works with “mate o” project. In the poll organized by the Jazz Forum magazine participants named him “the hope of polish vibraphone” when he earned first places in categories “vibraphone” and “hope of polish jazz”. Moreover he is a remarkable session musician who worked with many of the Poland’s most talented and successful musicians playing a wide variety of jazz and rock compositions. Stanisław Sojka, Justyna Steczkowska, Paweł Kukiz, Reni Jusis, Ireneusz Dudek, Mieczysław Szcześniak, Jorgos Skolias, Katarzyna Gertner, Ewa Uryga, Anthimos Apostolis, SBB, Krzak, Tomasz Stańko, Tomasz Szukalski, Maciek Sikała, Piotr Wojtasik, Grzegorz Kapołka, Bronisław Duży, Grażyna Łobaszewska, Marek Bałata, Wojtek i Jacek Niedziela, Ruth Lynch, Junior Robinson are just a few of the artists with whom he worked both in recording studio and during live shows. Among his other accomplishments Irek Głyk has performed in Poland and numerous other countries (USA, Germany, France, Denmark, Italy, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine, Austria). In 2005 he published his first solo album – “Long Time”, his second solo album, "Step Ahead" was released in September 2008 and series of live shows is followed to promote it.
IREK GŁYK MULTISOUND is a truly unique project that can not be compared to anything on both polish and international jazz scene. IGM is a trio composed of extraordinary musicians who indulge their audience with sound of vibraphone, electric bass guitar and drums. During the live shows they perform their own compositions along with some well-known jazz standards to further increase enjoyment of the audience. Their skill and passion allowed them to create amazing and unique music.
