Every year during the St Patrick's Season, NYC singer/songwriter Joe Hurley salutes his Irish heritage with a blazing all-night long musical extravaganza that celebrates Ireland's musical gifts to the world - The All-Star Irish Rock Revue.
Gathering friends/performers ranging from NYC punk-rock legends to Broadway stars to best-selling novelists to star comedians to rock legends,from r&r hall of famers to up and coming local singers, the GREAT IRISH SONGBOOK is honoured and perfomed with an all-star backing band at this much-loved one night only event during the St Patrick's season.
The songs might come from Ireland but the singers represent NYC in in all it's glorious diversity,drawing from many cultures, races and backgrounds. For nine years, this musical event has been 'the biggest St Pat's Party in New York' IRISH VOICE.
The evening begins with a set from Joe Hurley & Rogue's March featuring JAY DAUGHERTY (PATTI SMITH) and JAMES MASTRO (IAN HUNTER). Called 'the best singer of vowels in rock' by the VILLAGE VOICE, Hurley has released several critically acclaimed CDs and is featured on the recent SONY release "Whiskey in the Jar-Essential Irish Drinking Songs and Singalongs' with his ballad 'Amsterdam Mistress.'
The Irish Rock Revue begins at 9pm sharp -Band members this year include Steve Goulding (Mekons) Mark Bosch (Ian Hunter) Sal Maida(Cracker), Tish n Snooky, Megan Weeder(Mellencamp), Pat Robinson and MD Chris Flynn.
Special guests include Ireland's The High Kings (direct from Radio City show), Chis Collingwood (Fountains of Wayne), Stew (star of Broadway's new hit show - Passing Strange) and Stephen Frost, star of UK's “Whose Line is it Anyway?” will be joining Joe Hurley's 9th Annual All-Star Irish Rock Revue on Saturday, March 15th, held for the first time at the legendary Webster Hall in the heart of the East Village. Other guest performers this year include members of the New York Dolls, The Dictators and the Patti Smith Band, Ellen Foley, Willie Nile, and SNL's Christine Ohlman.
NYC's best radio station WFUV 90.7 fm is sponsoring the event so listen for updates and ticket giveaways with support from good friends GIBSON and GUINNESS.
The Revue strongly supports the Campaign to Save St Brigid's Church in the East Village. There are a limited number of VIP tickets available through www.savestbrigid.com. The All-Star Irish Rock Revue is donating 100% of the proceeds from the sales of these tickets to directly benefit the campaign. The $40 VIP tickets include entrance to see the show from the seated balcony area, food and an open bar from 7pm-9pm.

Usually when a promoter lists a few headliners and concludes with "and many more", it's hyperbole. Not so at the 7th Annual ALL-STAR IRISH ROCK REVUE, which lists an eyebrow-raising 44 participating singers. Big names this year include Michael Cerveris, currently starring in Sweeney Todd; Steve Conte, playing with his own band and the reunited New York Dolls; and Richard Lloyd of Television. The Revue celebrates the Emerald Isle's contribution to the canon, with performers covering tunes by Irish Rockers including Thin Lizzy, Van Morrison, Sinead O'Connor, Morrissey, The Pogues, an up-and-coming outfit called U2 "and many more". Really. Also, count on a few traditional tunes, some interpreted in not-so-traditional ways. Count on it being one hell of a pisser. Just write Saturday off now.
