Iron Ass was a stupid band from Pleasant Hill Ca. Drummer Timmy and Bassist Vince met in a guitar class and suddenly were jamming in a bar playing retarted Journey and Eminem covers. Tim and Vince had alot in common as far as musical interests is concerned. Vince pulled Kenny (guitar) and Brendan (Accordian, an instrument he had no idea how to play) together to jam on stupid covers and write stupid originals. Iron Ass Theme Song and Who Needs a Girlfriend When I Got Sheep were written at our first practice and got us all excited. We played our first gig of mostly covers on Dec. 31 1999. Pretty soon after that Iron Ass started playing once to twice a week at shit holes around the inlands of the East Bay Area, fine establishments like Abernathy's (now the Echo), Lindee's (now Bourbon St.) and Time Out (still around unfortunatley). In Summer of 2000 Iron Ass played Libertatia in Stoneyford Ca and formed a great relationship with the GeekFest SPAM records crew. They called us "thelast of a dying breed", the GEEK band. After that almost all of our shows were set up exclusively by Spam people. After a while Vince and Iron Ass seperated, Vince went on to form Kid Moe (now Go Kart Mozart). Brendan took over Lead Vocals, and proved to be a very powerful, charismatic front man. Gans a friend of Tim's was asked to play bass, Gans brought a thunderous low end to our rythm section. Played more shows (with Bananas, FLESHIES(!!!!!), The Skirtheads, Fuck Yeah! Avocado, Numbers, Plus Ones, Gravy Train!!!!!, Veronica Lipgloss, Pansy Division, The Blottos, Bobby Joe Ebola and the Children MacNuggits (last show with a full band), Human Beans, Mike Bonner, The Blast Rocks!, STFU, Los Rabbis, fuckin tons more!) and put out a CD of A-List material, Backwards on Spam records. everything was going good in the band until Brendan quit to join the circus. Then we broke up. Watch these classic shows when we were at our best.

"...Brothers everywhere - raise your hands into the air
We're warriors, warriors of the world
Like thunder from the sky - sworn to fight and die
We're warriors, warriors of the world
Many stand against us, but they will never win
We said we would return and here we are again
To bring them all destruction, suffering and pain
We are the hammer of the gods, we are thunder, wind and rain.”
Oh wow! The version of the Sumo song at the BART show must be the worst performance ever!! Listen for my out of control distortion switching. Cool backup vocalist, though!
Wow, punk prom. I remember that show very well. The whole wizard summoning the acordian from the bbq doesn't show up so well on the video. Brendan passed out at the end of the last song amidst the onstage chaos. Those little kids after the show were pretty funny.
“Hear the call of the wild in us all
It waits for the night to fall
I'm getting hot, I'm ready for the night
No holding back, let's
I'm gonna give all you can take all night
And leave you in the morning feeling right
I'm an animal, there's an animal in me
Gonna set it free
I'm an animal, there's an animal in me
Gonna set it free
I've been looking, you've been watching from the side
There's some things you just can't hide
Oh, you're getting wet, you're working up a sweat
Your hair's standing up on end
Your skin is screaming, glad we met?
Tonight's one night you won't forget”
“Hear the pounding army of the night
The call of metal summons us tonight
And gather we on this site
To behold the power and the might
We wear leather, we wear spikes, we rule the night
Off with the lights, hear the screams
See the banging heads awaken to their dreams.
The sound of metal so loud it cracks the beams
Played by warriors called the Metal Kings.”
