Whether they are writing songs about lost love, inner-city angst or political injustice, Sydney blues & roots combo, Iron Bar Hotel have a sound which is attracting many superlatives. However, the one that seems to get bounced around most frequently is ‘earthy’.
Led by raspy raconteur, Luke Prout, these juke-joint minstrels pride themselves on their organic sound and approach to their music. Sharing a musical genealogy with the likes of Led Zeppelin, Dave Matthews Band, Wilco, and Australia's own, John Butler Trio, IBH are creating quite a buzz on Sydney's Roots scene with their jam infused shows and honest, poetic lyrics.
IBH came together late in 2006 when Prout and guitarist Don Blue were invited to get a set together for The Tamworth Music Festival. Adding bass player Ben Norvill and drummer Dylan Jones, IBH went on to support Karl Brodie and Australian Roots legends, The Flood. Since then, they were invited back for 2008 and 2009 and along the way have supported The Wilson Pickers and Wes Carr.
IBH have recently recorded their debut Ep with legendary recording team Garth Porter and Ted Howard, which has received a number of positive reviews including the following:

Opening track Lost at Sea has featured on Triple J’s Roots ‘n’ All show and will be featured on Foghorn Record’s Homegrown Roots 4 compilation.
Having recently completed a successful headline tour of Australia’s East Coast, playing venues including Byron Bay’s The Rails and Brisbane’s Troubadour, as well as selling out Sydney’s Vanguard, Iron Bar Hotel soon hope to record their debut album and become regulars on Australia’s festival scene.
