Michael's Interests
General
Music
I enjoy a rather eclectic blend of music ranging anywhere from some hip hop to classical. I listen mostly to country/hard rock, but I’m open to all forms of music. Music is a primal way of expressing emotion through art, accepting and respecting all different types of music as artistic expression allows individuals to gain a greater understanding of the variety of life itself. Mood affects the selection of music, just as mood and emotion are represented through the expression of music by the artist… the more open individuals are to artistic expression the better they can express themselves through their own life, art, and subsequent works.
Movies
This is difficult, I have tons of films I like… The Boondock Saints, Saving Private Ryan, Tombstone, A Fist Full of Dollars, Unforgiven, Young Guns I/II, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Hang 'Em High, The Wild Bunch, Dazed and Confused, Dumb and Dumber, Wayne’s World I/II, Clerks, Mallrats, Austin Powers (all three), Bill and Ted’s (both films), Super Troopers, O Brother Where Art Thou?, The Dirty Dozen, Master and Commander, Braveheart, Gladiator, Snatch, Fight Club, Unleashed, The Lost Boys, The Fog (the original), Pirates of the Caribbean (both films), Lord of the Rings (all three films), The Last of the Mohicans, and many more; I could probably continue on for a while.
Television
ESPN, Football (college and pro), Hockey, NASCAR, UFC, The Ultimate Fighter Series, Baseball, Basketball (college), Ghost Hunters, Deadwood, CSI, Boston Legal, Freaks and Geeks, Criminal Minds, Numb3rs, Close to Home, Ghost Whisperer,Cold Case, Miami Ink, Mythbusters, Scrubs, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, House… when I actually get to watch TV.

About me:
I recently received my M.A. in History from JMU. My specific focus is American History although most of my research is in fields outside of the U.S. course of study. My final research project for my B.A. at Virginia Tech dealt with the British Empire, culminating in a research paper titled “Through the Lens of Empire: Imperial Themes in British ..aries and Feature Films, 1925-1939.” While here at JMU I recently completed a few short but interesting papers titled “History Proliferated by Theoretical Interpretation: A Brief Study of Karl Marx and Max Weber in the Interest of Historical Truth,”(presented at the the 2008 Florida State University History Conference) "Trading People: Honor, Society, and Economic Prosperity – A Study of Colonial Virginia through the Lives of Politicians, Pirates, and Planters, 1710-1720," and "Food, Fun, and Drink – Ordinaries on Colonial Virginia’s Frontier: A Brief Study of Ordinary ‘Gentlemen,’ Thomas Jefferson, John Madison, and William Russell" (presented at the 2008 North Carolina State University History Conference). I also completed a lengthy study in Latin American History through Film, with a specific research focused paper titled “Estereotipo y Representación/Stereotype and Portrayal: A Historiographical Approach to the Anglo Representation of Latin America and Latin Americans in the Cowboy Western Film Genre, 1960-2005.” I have finished a 40 to 50 page research project on the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in the Appalachian Region of Virginia with a focus on the George Washington and Thomas Jefferson National Parks titled "Fires in the Mountains:Transgressions, Perceptions, and the Integration of The Civilian Conservation Corps with Appalachian Virginia, 1933-1942."
Ok enough of the business… now for some fun; I enjoy acting and directing for theatre, film, and television. I have a lot of experience in all facets of the performing arts and thoroughly love acting. I also take hobby in photography and painting.
I’m a Leo and enjoy long walks on the beach…oh, wait wrong website… haha just kidding. I’m a true Appalachian, (that’s pronounced App-a-latCH-uh-n; not Ap-pa-chee-uh-n or Ap-pa-laSHH-uh-n. Remember always pronounce locations as the locals do…wink wink.) Therefore I like to call myself an educated redneck or sophisticated hillbilly... c’mon it’s not a bad joke… ok maybe it is but anyway.
I like sports especially football (both college and pro), as well as hockey, and UFC. I’ve always played sports and continue to stay physically fit.
That’s kind of me in a nutshell… take it or leave it; I’d like to think of myself as a pretty cool/mellow dude, but I’m sure my family and friends would disagree with that… Ha
so when are you coming back into town? I miss you and you haven't met my dog yet. Trekkie and I got a stupidly cute hound mix who wants to play with the cats all the time. Give me a call when you've got a free weekend.
What's up Miker? Been awhile. I need to give you a call sometime and catch up. All I got to say is the best time of year is coming. Football season is a coming!!!
Actually its been cold and rainy!By cold I mean in the 60s, "florida cold." Oh, and I can't find you on facebook I tried. The only fun I had was catching the tell end of bike week, and going to some of the races. Brittany however is touring Florida, and staying with friends wherever she can I think she is even going to the keys.

At least you don't look it. : ).
Yo did you get my message yesterday. Just wondering if you wanted to go to Bush Gardens with Old Danner and me. This weekend or next. Let me know if you are interested.
all is well here, except apparently, every job in psychology requires a good driving record. Who knew telling people they're crazy requires the ability to drive? LOL Other than that, doing well! You?
Yea definately. I actually tried to call old Danner this weekend, but he did not pick up. I am up for BG sometime. Just as long as it is not the beginning of July. I will be in Colorado.
