THE LAST SAMURAI "They are an intriguing people. From the moment they wake they devote themselves to the perfection of whatever they pursue. I have never seem such discipline. "
I love epic war movies... especially ones where honor is involved. Where the underdog fights back, win or lose... A fight for values and for principles... or for LOVE.
Braveheart. The Last Samurai. The Gladiator. The Patriot. Rob Roy.

BELOW: More KICKIN' SHOOTO ACTION! You've gotta see it to believe it!! Never in the history of all the fighting arts has there ever been a lightweight with this shocking degree of pure knock-out power... Introducing... Yamamoto "KID" Norifumi!!!
My friends all call me Moon. I was born in Hawaii and lived there for most of my life until I moved to Chicago for medical school. I fell in love with the big city and ended up staying here to work. I'm an emergency room physician now. I stay pretty busy, but I really love my job.
For fun, in my free time, I used to promote a mixed martial arts (MMA) fighting competition similar to The Ultimate Fighting (UFC) that you see on Spike TV and on Pay-per-View. I called it the IRONHEART CROWN (IHC). I built the largest and most highly respected show in the midwest and was sanctioned by the International Shooto Commission (ISC), a world-wide sanctioning body based out of Tokyo, Japan. The ISC is the oldest MMA organization in the world, in existance since 1986, almost 10 years before the UFC. Operating in 17 nations around the world, with nearly 100 events sanctioned annually, the ISC was at one time also the world's largest MMA organization.
I worked very hard on this show, and I am very proud of the way it evolved into an internationally recognized showcase of MMA skills. I didn't do it alone by any means. The show was built through the cooperative efforts of a number of friends, along with the support of other local promoters and, of course, the many, many talented fighters that we have here in the Midwest.
I was a very unique fight promoter. For me it was a hobby and a passion, not a job or an income. I was never out to make a quick buck. I never cared if a show didn't generate 10 cents because I wasn't out to make money off of this. My goal was to put together a platinum production which showcased skilled athletes in the most exciting and competitive matches possible. In addition to featuring the best Midwestern locals available, we also brought in fighters from all over the country and around the world to make sure that our show was top notch from start to finish.
To me, planning a show is like creating a work of art. I won't do it half-assed. All of the details have to be in place and I have to be sure that the finished product will be a professional showcase of top-level skill. It has to be something that I can be proud of.
Because our sport is now mainstream and there are a number of huge corporate productions promoting similar fights around the world, it has become very difficult to promote a quality show on the local level. All of the best talent has been signed under exclusivity to the big shows, and a number of new promoters are popping up, competing for the fighters who have not yet signed big contracts.
I'm taking a break from promoting for a while. I need to re-evaluate the current environment and determine what changes need to be made for my show to keep up with the sport's recent explosion in growth. I am extremely happy with the progress that our sport has made. I have been involved from the very beginning, training and competing before the first UFC ever aired on TV. Unfortunately, I need to come up with a new strategy to continue producing the level of quality that my show was known for.
I'll be back, and so will the show. Watch for us. The Ironheart Crown will Return. Hopefully in the spring of 2008.
