Founded in 1995 by Mark, the music of Sanctuary - Iron Maiden tribute, is propelled by tight, high quality musicianship from all the members of the band. Sanctuary got it's start as Hudson Valley's premier Iron Maiden tribute act in 1998. Then in 2001, Sanctuary expanded to audiences throughout the Tri-State & New England area, offering a stage show like no other. The shows have various backdrops and custom banners, blacklighting, simulated flame effects, fog machines and more. Anyone familiar with Iron Maiden, knows about their official mascot "Eddie", and Sanctuary always has some type of "Eddie" in a live performance. There's a stationary Eddie prop with laser eyes and plasma crystal ball, 2 to 3 walk on stage Eddie appearances from either the Trooper, Ed Hunter, The Mummy, Fear of The Dark, Killers, or The Grim Reaper, and finally, there's a giant 15 foot show closers of "Eddie" as the Mummy & Fear of the Dark. To date, there aren't many Iron Maiden tribute bands that offer these fan favorite acts. Our goal is to deliver an accurate and authentic Iron Maiden experience for all Iron Maiden fans to enjoy.
In July 2008 Sanctuary welcomed our new frontman, Sonic Age Records recording artist, Bobby "Leather Lungs" Lucas to the lineup.
Bobby is a professional singer, whose credits include CD releases with Seven Witches, Exhibition and Overlorde. Bobby's multi octave range makes him a great choice as the new Air Raid Siren for Sanctuary. His musical influences include Bruce Dickinson, Rob Halford, Geoff Tate, Ronnie James Dio, and more. Bobby also has a creative imagination, and with his artistic skills, he re-creates many visual and theatrical aspects of an Iron Maiden show.
In addition to Mr "Leather Lungs", Sanctuary was fortunate enough to meet Jimmy, a veteran drummer that is also a professional musician.
Jimmy is a progressive style drummer with an extensive repertoire. He has performed on 3 studio albums and toured Europe with the progressive metal band ETERNITY X. Jimmy also released 1 studio album with the power metal band EXHIBITION and has toured our local music scene with the popular Rush Tribute band HEMISPHERES. His innovative, powerful, and complex style of drumming adds new dimension to the Rhythm of the Beast.
