Topics I write about are all over the map -- from pop culture and technology to health and social issues. I'm doing more and more Multimedia storytelling with sound, photos and video.
When I'm not writing, I'm into iTunes and FinalCutPro, Scrabble, photography, kayaking, guitar, rooms with a view, Australia, improvising on recipes, stained glass, and goofing off with my favorite kids, grown-ups and animals.

Many family members; everyday, hard-workin' people; professor Sandy Padwe (my journalistic moral compass); Studs Terkel; Eleanor Roosevelt; Nelson Mandela; and the many people who are willing to share their stories with me. And yes, J, you, too! ;)
About me: I'm a national writer for The Associated Press, where I've worked for more than 10 years. I write stories about and for young people -- young adults, teens and tweens. I've been in my current role at the AP since 2001.
