Album review Irya's Playground
I was overjoyed to hear the new album. I'm glad for a number of reasons. Firstly Irya is a wonderfully talented, gorgeous young lady with a beautiful voice. Secondly and most importantly she has the most rare of gifts. She can sing songs that are romantic without making them sounds cheesy or girly. Her album really is her Playground. It's like steeping into her world for an hour. There's songs about travelling, love, dreams aspirations, heartbreak, fantasies, folk and city life.
One of my favourites has to be 'Room 54'. It's a real indie song that has lot's and lot's of crossover potential. This girl is a star in the making. I'm sure it won't belong before she really breaks through.
It certainly evoked a reaction in me and I know that it will certainly be inspirational for a lot of people this year too. Irya's Playground really is quite simply a stunning debut album. Roque Guinart

En luttrad person som med hes och avslappnad röst framför tillbakalutad popmusik fast med hög erfarenhetsdensitet. Det är en Traveling Wilburys-församling, befolkad av svensk rocks mest luttrade, som spelar: Ebbot Lundberg, Conny Nimmersjö, Martin Hederos, Freddie Wadling med flera. Det är litet vi har hört och sett allt över alltsammans, på ett behagligt sätt.

Nu har alla pusselbitarna fallit på plats och jag kan inte sluta lyssna på fantastiska låtar som ”With you”, ”Room 54”, ”My angel” och ”I know what I want”. Irya sjunger slarvigt, sprucket och starkt på samma gång, men det finns passion i framförandet, ungefär som hos en ung Patti Smith, och melodierna är allt som oftast starka och tydliga.

Irya Gmeyner and Pange Öberg are the driving force behind Irya’s Playground – they write, record and produce all the music. Together with the band members Erik Nilsson (Drums) and Jon Bergström (Guitar), who have been influential in the studio, a sound has been created, with musicians like Ebbot Lundberg, Conny Nimmersjö, Bebe Risenfors, Martin Hederos, Stefan Axelsen and Freddie Wadling.
Irya’s Playgrounds music breathes the big city, with influences such as dub, punk, new wave and electro. The music is often pared down, but beneath the surface it bubbles with energy and attitude. Always with a fantastic voice in focus. www.irya.se
