Isaac Mizrahi is the Creative Director for the Liz Claiborne brand, where he oversees design and marketing for the women’s apparel and accessories line. As a leader in the design business for almost twenty years, Isaac has been awarded four CFDA awards, including a special award in 1996 for the groundbreaking documentary “UNZIPPED.” Isaac’s women’s collection is available both domestically and internationally and can be seen in fashion magazines around the globe. In 2003, he revolutionized the industry with his partnership with Target, launching a collection of chic and stylish clothing and accessories for women. Born in Brooklyn, New York Isaac’s passion for design and performance began at early age. As the son of a children’s clothing manufacturer and a fashion-obsessed mom, Isaac was always encouraged to express his artistic flair. After a childhood spent staging puppet shows in his backyard and creating clothes for his mom’s friends, Isaac studied acting at the High School of Performing Arts and fashion design at Parsons. He worked with Perry Ellis and Calvin Klein before launching his own label in 1987. Isaac has created costumes for movies, theatre, dance and opera in collaboration with Mark Morris, Twyla Tharp, Mikhail Baryshnikov and The Roundabout Theatre Company among others. In 2002 Isaac received the Drama Desk Award for his costume designs for The Women. Also an accomplished author, In 1997 Isaac wrote the comic book series Sandee the Supermodel and in 2008 published How To Have Style. Isaac has been featured in films and television shows including “Sex & the City,” “Ugly Betty” and “Celebrity Jeopardy.” Isaac won rave reviews in 1999 for his one-man, off-Broadway show Les Mizrahi. For many years Isaac hosted his own series on the Oxygen and Style Networks and can currently be seen in his daily web-series WATCHISAAC.COM. In 2009 Isaac will host “The Fashion Show” on Bravo and launch a weekly series on Sirius satellite radio. When not working, Isaac enjoys spending time with his dog Harry and cooking.
