Armed with one 8-track, two 6-strings, one sm-58 and a belief that some things should never change, I Saw Black You Saw Stars is the consequence of analog thinking in a digital world. A company of noise dances gracefully, anchored by the acoustic rhythms and honest vocals of John Harrell, creating a musical score, set to the screenplay of the listener.
Youth pastor by day, husband-father-musician by night, John writes out of necessity wherever he finds the opportunity. Fed up with modern America's attempts to paint an unrealistic portrait of life, John seeks to write lyrics that are not only honest, but embarrassingly real. Unashamed to explore his brightest realizations and blackest insecurities, each song is a window into his soul, shunning manufactured emotions and embracing the hope that life is more than breathing in and breathing out, only to one day cease.

This round will be judged, but one of the factors under consideration is crowd response. So come on out and let's party. Make sure those judges know who you are supporting by cheering as loud as possible!

Duuuuuudesky.... I know you're a "working man" now. But can't we be realistic here? I know you love music WAY more than the next guy (unless that guy is me) so can't we respect the sport of the arts and get a show soon or music or something. Question: Why am I rambling? Answer: Oh...you know... -Nick P.S. We need to hang this weekend. For realskies this time.
Hey John. Just saw that you are online now and wanted to say hi. We haven't talked for awhile, but I think about all you guys a lot. =) Hope all is well.
