Music, music, music! I love concerts....big and small. I've seen the Dave Matthews Band 17 times so far (yes....so far), so they are my current passion. In the fall I go to a local sports bar on Sundays watching my beloved Kansas City Chiefs (with appropriate home/away jersey, of course) and in the winter and spring my attention shifts to Dallas Stars hockey (during the summer, I am lost as I don't like baseball.....). I read a lot....anything I can get my hands on really. Current best sellers to classics....I have a stack of books next to my couch waiting to be read. I'm also a knitting/crochet nut....why pay $20 for a scarf I can make in one night for $2 of yarn? I volunteer a bit....feeding the homeless at the Nashville Rescue Mission twice a month and a knitting group that makes hats and scarves for the less fortunate. I do all this through Hands On Nashville (www.hon.org) Fun stuff! I have big plans to become a world traveler.....I went to London in 2006 and have plans to go to Eastern Europe later this year, so the travel bug has definitely bitten!
Music
Dave Matthews Band, Coldplay, They Might Be Giants, INXS, old U2, The Cure, Queen, Duran Duran, Sting, XTC, Howie Day, John Mayer, REM, Counting Crows, Goo Goo Dolls, Gabe Dixon Band, Mat Kearney, Sarah McLachlan, Robert Randolph and the Family Band, Rush, Vampire Weekend, Widespread Panic, various new wave bands from the 80's. The list goes on and on.....
Movies
I don't watch movies much....my attention span is lacking. I have, however, recently joined Netflix. So I'm trying to catch up. Some favorites are When Harry Met Sally, Shawshank Redemption, any Monty Python, Princess Bride, Steel Magnolias, and Finding Nemo.
Television
Anything on HGTV, The Daily Show, Grey's Anatomy, Family Guy, those I Love the 80's shows on VH1, and, depending on the stories, any of the Dateline, 60 Minutes, 48 Hours type shows
Books
It would almost be easier for me to list what kind of books I don't like! I'll read just about anything anyone recommends....I have a "to read" list a mile long.
Heroes
Just about anyone that has had to overcome something. I have been very blessed to live a fairly uneventful life...people that go through terrible tragedies or heartache and come out on the other end just amaze me. I also have a soft spot for people that are able to stay humble, real, and grounded even though they are amazing and talented people.
About me: I am a 37-year-old single Midwestern transplant in Tennessee. I’m painfully shy, fiercely independent, hopelessly romantic, overly passionate, slightly OCD, have a severely deficient attention span, and can talk endlessly about my interests (read: obsessions) What are those…er…. “obsessions” you may ask?? Oh, I’m so glad you did! Let’s see, my current music obsession is the Dave Matthews Band. I’ve seen them 17 times in concert. Ahem. Yeah. I also love my yarn arts…..I am constantly mid-project on some knitting or crocheting thing. God help you if you have a baby….I’m one of THOSE people. I was born in Kansas City and that automatically makes me a Chiefs fan. While my understanding of the game only allows me to yell “Run!” or “Throw it!” or simply “Go, go go!”, I do enjoy the ups and downs of being a fan of my “Cheeps”. And when I’m not cheering for the Chiefs, I’m going nuts for my Dallas Stars. Hockey is so fun! And fast! And there’s lots of hitting! And the players aren’t bad looking either. I’m just saying (hello, Sidney Crosby. I'm looking at you). And last, but not least, I love my “causes”. I write letters, go to meetings, volunteer, send money, make stuff and just enjoy getting involved with things I feel passionate about. I’ll champion for anything from the environment to the homeless to animals to prisoners of conscience and to anything and everything happening in Africa. I’m not looking for praise or pats on the back…..I’m more looking for people to join me! Even if your heart lies with the plight of the dung beetle, get out there and do something. Now!
Who I'd like to meet: The love of my life....oh wait....is this eHarmony?? My bad....
I would like to meet Dave Matthews, Sting, Bill Clinton, Joel Osteen (Oooooo...I can take him off the list cause I got to meet him recently!), Duran Duran, Lauren Graham, Orlando Bloom, Nelson Mandela, Barack Obama, Eddie Belfour, George Clooney, Sidney Crosby, and Mike Modano again...cause the first time didn't go so well.....
When you get a chance you should check out my new pictures. Brett and I are excited Brandon is playing in band now. Brett got out his very first trumpet and Brandon will be taking it to school tomorrow.
Thanks so much for the pic. comment. I would love to get together with you sometime soon. You are right from the pictures I have seen a lot of people still look the same.
