Ish [breakfast.]

Bio:

From the City of St. Louis comes Mr. Ish, a music producer with over 12 years experience in the music industry. He has written and/or performed with a number of St. Louis bands including: FAT MONKEY, JIVE TURKEY, CORE PROJECT, THE URGE, JTIP, and the ART THUGS (spanning from 1996 - 2004). As a keyboardist, he is known for throwin' down a sick jazz-based style which incorporates elements of funk, soul, and hip hop through classic analog instruments such as the Fender Rhodes and the Moog Opus III as well as utilizing fine digital boards like the Alesis Qs8 and the Yamaha Motif.

After a number of years of playing, writing, recording and touring with Perennial St. Louis "Slammy" award winners JIVE TURKEY (co-founded, '96 - '02) a few members, including Ish, were ready to move on to a new project that focused more on Hip Hop production. With cohorts Mathias (front-man and emcee) and Grilla (Producer - beat production, bass and keys) they formed the ART THUGS ('02 - '04). Their first album, "Surviving and Buiding" featured some of St. Louis' finest underground emcees such as Katt (RIP) and Jia Davis (BITS N PIECES), Lynus, and Intellect (MIDWEST AVENGERS) along with one of the illest turntablists DJ K9 (DMC champ StL). They rocked numerous shows throughout the Midwest and in the summer of 2003 went on a coast-to-coast national tour with F5 (St. Louis indie record label) artists Serengeti and DJ Crucial. Soon after concluding the tour the ART THUGS, having visited Los Angeles, were ready to make the big move out west for new opportunities and a change of scenery, so after the release of their second album "Fantastic The Mixtape" and final show they headed out for LA.

Ish and Grilla had been slowly putting together a recording facility and soon after arriving in LA and with the acquisition of some new gear they were able to finish The Manor Recording Studios (2004 - current). At this point, Ish and Grilla began moving in a different direction from the ART THUGS and were ready to expand into music licensing, arranging, film scoring, recording / mixing, and of course, beat production. Other members were also going in different directions and in 2004 the ART THUGS disbanded. Front man and emcee Mathias returned to St. Louis where he formed and currently performs with hip hop group the EARTHWORMS.

Ish currently resides in LA with Grilla where they have formed the indie label and music company BREAKFAST. Their upcoming album "Friday Night" features Chicago-bred emcees Serengeti and HiFidel and it can be heard at..................www.myspace.com/fridaynightmusic .. .. .. .. ..
