Isley was less than one year old when she began talking, her first words being mama, cookie and dada (in that order). She has been collecting words and ways of fitting them together ever since. Now she reckons maybe other people want to hear them and share theirs with her. This may seem a beautifully giving act, but it’s really entirely selfish - she just wants people to go "woah, that’s a lot of words, way to go Isley". (If any of you are so inclined, a message to that effect would be greatly appreciated)
Anyway, so she spoke into a microphone a couple of times in her friends bedroom and put what came out up here, and will also, I suspect, add teeny tiny poems to view every month or so. If she can remember her password. And the poems.
Thanks for the comments, very much appreciated! Glad to see also that you've put your Xpression FM appearance up on your upcoming events - I'll ensure it gets adequate plugging so the whole of Exeter (and beyond) tunes in. Your words are, as ever, exquisite. x
Thanks very much!, Sounds great to me I've been really wanting to get involved in film score writing for a while! Something more than just writing music for myself...
I will with any luck be down to Exeter for the 19th April to watch the gig in the Phoenix..still trying to figure out how to get back or where to crash for the night but I will sort something out!
I was in Exeter cos Bristol peeved me off and I fancied a change. I found a recording studio which I could use for FREE (it was run by social services) and I was having financial and housing issues at the time...I wont bore you with details.
I was down there for about 15 months but I left as the vocal tracks were done and Bristol came back calling so I pottered back...
I dont drink that much myself and i have total respect for t-totallers. I was a sod for smoking too much weed in Northernhey park and sometimes on the high st. just to wind up the local Police!!!!
I gigged at the pheonix and the Angel pub a few years back but Im pretty brutal and my work didnt suit Exeter as well as it does in Bristol. I liked the place tho and was fun while it lasted...
Good show last night- Its good that your doing something unique. Plus i admire the fact that you really get into your performances, it feels like you genuinely have something to express-
Yeah I get that when people read my stuff, they say 'I don't get poetry but that was cool', which is a huge compliment because it means your work appeals to a lot of people. Breaks out of the box, which your poems certianly do. Frank Turner has two albums and a few EPs, all of which I have so I'll make you copies. Was this the ex-boyfriend that went to Oxford Brookes? If it was I'll find his house and steal them the next time I'm there :D x x x
Thankyou muchly for the blog comment, I'm glad you like it. I was just pleased to be able to use the phrase 'foghorning idiocy' in a literary context. Sorry if it's a lot to live up to but you ARE great. I'll replace 'time' with lunchtime in future if you prefer, though it just makes me think of smooth jazz. Not sure whether that's good or not. Frank Turner's new album is wicked, probably not quite as good as his first but still good and he was very animated on stage. I'll be featuring it on the show sometime so you can hear it there and if you like it I'll make you a copy. How's the tour going anyway? All fun? x x x
