    RAS MIKEY Ras Mikey's unique voice and lyrical ability has been the cornerstone of ISOULJAHS sound since its founding in 1992. He is a self taught singer, chanter, songwriter, producer, & performer. Throughout the years he has learned to play melodica, guitar, keyboards, bass guitar, & various drums and percussions on his own to continue in building his songwriting & production skills. He dabbled in sound system works in his early days and can rock the dance properly with any sound today. He briefly attended Orange Coast College (Costa Mesa, California) where he studied sound engineering, recording techniques, and music business to learn about the industry. In 1996 he formed the Ras Youths International Recordings label to release his own, ISOULJAHS, and other artist's recordings. Besides leading the ISOULJAHS, Ras Mikey has also worked and performed live with Mama T, Maka & the I-Sight Band, One Love Ohana Band, Pacific Sounds Outernational, and Solomonic Sound throughout Hawaii. His early Reggae influences include Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Dennis Brown, Alton Ellis, Horace Andy, U Roy, Augustus Pablo, Junior Reid, Michael Rose, Half Pint, and Garnet Silk, and current artists like Buju Banton, Jah Cure, Luciano, Sizzla, Capleton, Lutan Fyah, and Jah Mason to name a few. ISOULJAHS Band On a musical mission from the highest regions to awaken the masses with conscious Rasta Reggae music, the ISOULJAHS sound rumbles the foundations of existence with earth moving force. Formed in 1993 in California by Ras Mikey, the works have moved forward and continued to this day without hesitance. The core of the band relocated and touched down on Oahu in 2004 planting solid roots to bring forth righteous fruits and keep the works forwarding. Ras Mikey & ISOULJAHS have now become known as one of Hawaii's Reggae heavy hitters on the island scene while maintaining the International recognition they have gained throughout the years. Your ears will not starve with their tasteful blend of classic riddims and original material that has the ability to span any style of Reggae including roots, foundation, dub, dancehall, rocksteady, rockers, steppers, one drop, lovers, you name it. There are even hints of Jazz, R&B, Soul, & Hip Hop to be found in their live sets and ambient recordings. Without concentration you will find an emphasis on mind-expanding messages, flowing imaginative lyricism, and stylish interpolations to keep you listening as their material flows hot like lava. Expressing life filled with love and faith, joy and JAH, Babylon and sufferation, confusion and pain, war and peace, darkness and light – from Cali to Hawaii, Jamaica to Africa, East to West, youth and elders alike feel the pulsation of their heartbeat music.
