I Spy, originally from Regina, Saskatchewan (and originally called "Clump") made Winnipeg their home in 1994. For the next two years, they made themselves living legends in the hardcore scene until they called it a day in the summer of '96. (Todd the Rod now plays in Propagandhi.)
Besides being one of the funnier cast of characters in existence to thrash audiences into the ground with their raw, full throttle recordings and ever rawer, fuller-throttle live shows, you also got some of the most sincere, "lump in the throat, this planet stinks and we gotta figure out how to change it but we gotta keep thrashing too" words ever put to paper. Straight from the heart, spot-on politics and raging melodic hardcore delivered with a sense of humour not unlike that of a troubled 10-year old who needs her/his mouth washed out with a stiff bar of Nature Clean.
Gone but(t) not forgotten!
"I-Spy were not the kind of folks to sit around drinking coffee talking about revolution--we were a bunch of small city fucks who spent our time desperately trying to figure out what's going on. We all learned alot from travelling around and thank everyone for that. We're glad to have gotten away and to have seen many different walks of life. Everyone is different."

SHOCK CINEMA "OUR WAY IS REVENGE" CDEP COMING VERY SOON ON MONOTONSTUDIO!!!
While on tour with Celebration, Miyuki Furtado of the Rogers Sisters met some of Katrina Ford's Atlanta-based friends. Finding like-minded musicians in British born vocalist Destiny Ming Wan Montague and guitarist/melodica player Autry Rene Fulbright, he offered to play drums for them if they ever made it to New York.
Shortly thereafter, not without a little encouragement from TV on the Radio's David Sitek, Fulbright and Montague relocated to Brooklyn. With a co-conspirator in Miyuki, the way was paved for Shock Cinema. And that way is revenge.
For the rest of 2007, Shock Cinema will focus on touring and recording tracks for their next effort at Sitek's Stay Gold Studio with Chris Coady (Blonde Redhead, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Gang Gang Dance). Members of ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead and Dragons of Zynth are adding additional instrumentation. Currently, Danny Wood is filling out the line up playing bass guitar.

We used to say that we were the second greatest band ever. We didn't really think so, I just get sick of bands always pretending they are the best. When people asked why not first I'd say I-Spy was better. They've inspired me in my music and my life so thanks for creating a page for them. I hope their music will spread.
hey, cheers for the add! I-Spy were such an awesome band, the perversity is spreading album is one of my favourite ever albums and is a huge influence on our music... gone but definately not forgotton...
