Istanbul Calling Vol. 1, the first piece of Elec-Trip Records’ ethnic-electronic series was released in 2003. The album became known both nationally and internationally as a special compilation, which reflects the unique underground spirit of Istanbul through music. During the time that passed since then the second album was planned out and in July 2007, just like Istanbul Calling Vol. 1, Istanbul Calling Vol. 2 was produced by Oguz Kaplangi.
Istanbul Calling / Live DJ Set...
In these concerts, producer/DJ Oguz Kaplangi is on stage with his samples and electronic rhythm sections. He is accompanied by musicians with live Turkish ethnic instruments. The music is supported by Istanbul visuals.
Oguz Kaplangi, current member of the band Zi Punt and ex-member of the band Rebel Moves, is the owner of the music production company/record label Elec-Trip and he is the producer of bands/projects such as Portecho, Techno Roman Project, Istanbul Calling, Lava and Mira. He is one of the founders of Radio ODTU (to this day one of Turkey’s most prominent and influential university radios) and he worked at a jingle production house called Jinglehouse, from 1997 to 2003.
Oguz Kaplangi founded Elec-Trip Records in 2003 where he composes "fusion" music, especially ethnic-electronic music; he produces albums and plays in concerts in Turkey and abroad. The number of original albums and songs that he licenses out to national/international companies in music business is increasing every day. Oguz Kaplangi plays guitar on stage as well as in the studio. He is very well known in the advertising and film production companies in Turkey as he also produces/composes jingles, movie, theater and TV show themes at Elec-Trip.
