Polaroid is 60 years old. Used by Andy Warhol, loved by Helmut Newton, Nobuyoshi Araki and many others, Instant Photography was the symbol of an era. With instant emulsion, photography was also to become an expressive tool for pop artists, an immediate means to capture any aspect of everyday life. It can be used by anyone, artists, children and ordinary people; there is no longer any need to take the film to the processing lab, all it takes is to wait a few seconds to see the image taken moments before appear before your very eyes. Even though instant photography will always be seen in terms of the Polaroid, many photographers today produce their own instant emulsions and cameras. It's only an instant print, but it makes a whole lot of difference.
'Istantanea' is a festival and a competition for those who are keeping the fascination for this unique and singular means of capturing reality still alive today.
La Polaroid compie 60 anni. Usata da Andy Warhol, amata da Helmut Newton, Nobuyoshi Araki e molti altri, la fotografia ad emulsione istantanea è stata il segno di un intero periodo storico. Con l'emulsione istantanea, la fotografia diventa anch'essa espressione della pop art, mezzo immediato per cogliere ogni aspetto della quotidianeità. Usata da tutti, artisti, gente comune, bambini di ogni età; non bisogna più portare il rullino dal fotografo, basta aspettare qualche istante per vedere la foto appena scattata. Durante le feste di compleanno, nei party esclusivi, nelle camere da letto, la realtà prende una forma diversa. Il digitale avanza, imita, trasforma, migliora o peggiora, ma non sostituisce. Altri marchi si cimentarono con questa tecnologia come ad esempio la Kodak, o ancora oggi la Fuji. Sebbene la fotografia istantanea sarà per sempre legata al brevetto e al marchio Polaroid, oggi molti appassionati autoproducono emulsioni e relative macchine fotografiche ad emulsione istantanea.
E' solo una stampa istantanea ed è tutta la differenza.
"Istantanea" è un festival-concorso dedicato a chi sente viva la fascinazione per questo mezzo unico e singolare di riproduzione della realtà.
