  • Bio

**NEW EP RELEASE FROM ‘IS THIS ART?’** .. .. CHASING DAYS Available through MGM/Green Media Distribution and online through iTunes and Waterfront records. .. .. “Is this art?’s second recording was nothing but fantastic (MusicSA)” and they now welcome you to their new EP ‘Chasing Days’. A balance of thundering aggression, driving rock hooks, melodic warmth and piano flourishes lay the foundation for the gritty, thick vocals. The result, the record that is this art? are adamant is their best work to date, and by opening with a statement of purpose through an energetic, punchy sound, is this art? are in full flight. .. .. Is this art?’s debut Self Titled EP arrived in stores in September 2005 and was received with great enthusiasm. NOVA 919 picked up the track ‘Weary’ for regular airplay in the NOVA 9’s and favourite tune ‘Elektra’ was selected in the top 5 Rock Songs at the Music Oz awards and also became the theme song for their weekly Foxtel show. 2007 saw the boys release their LP ‘Everything Is Cheaper Than It Looks’ and, just like their first release, saw them receive regular airplay as well as being be picked up by MGM/Green Media Distribution. .. .. With a broad range of musical influences from Led Zeppelin to Pearl Jam to Metallica and with a “flair very similar to the Foo Fighters, is this art? are taking music to the next level (Shut Eye Records, Atlanta, (USA)).” The boys show the kind of dynamics that great rock bands are made of by displaying a well honed and mature breed of rock which has helped the boys share the stage with a diverse selection of bands including ‘Birds of Tokyo’, ‘The Hot Lies’ ‘In Fiction’, ‘Epicure’ ‘Final Days of Autumn’ and ‘Special Patrol’. .. .. IThe boys were able to inject a new level of intensity into their music to create this rock-solid rhythm sound with off-the-leash guitar melts and vocals to match any passionate singer. Not only does ‘Chasing Days’ provide the listener with straightforward hard rock and raw powerful vocals but also a blend of tuneful guitars and soothing harmonies. ‘Chasing Days’ is nothing less than a quantum leap creatively and musically and it seems destined to attract broader and deeper attention and has already seen the boys invited to have an interview on Nova 919 to coincide with the airplay on the Adelaide Show. .. .. So without spoiling it for you is this art? have taken everything they have always done best and brought it to the next level to deliver their finest recording to date. .. .. So here we go again… gigs, road trips, breakdowns, shameless promotion, late nights and plenty of great times… .. .. Sounds like a plan. .. .. CD available at Krypton Discs (Glenelg), JB HiFi, Sanity and others. SA and interstate. And itunes of course.. .. .. .. .... .... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .... ...... ...... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .... .. .. .. .. .. .. ...... ..........<a

  • Influences

We definitely have a wide range of influences. For example, our drummer Paul loves the Tea Party, Rage against the machine and Led Zeppelin while lead singer and guitarist Matt is a bit of a "Seattle early 90's" casualty still influenced by the likes of Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains and Stone Temple Pilots. Our bass player Paul is a big Radiohead fan and lead axeman, Jaz, has been known to call out the name "Dimebag Darrell" in his sleep. This coupled with our love of tons of Aussie acts like You am I, Silverchair and Augie March, there is no shortage of musical inspiration when penning our own numbers. Oh, and there there is also some bloke called Neil Young!
