You're The Guns of August!
by Barbara Tuchman Though you're interested in war, what you really want to know is what
causes war. You're out to expose imperialism, militarism, and nationalism for what they
really are. Nevertheless, you're always living in the past and have a hard time dealing
with what's going on today. You're also far more focused on Europe than anywhere else in
the world. A fitting motto for you might be "Guns do kill, but so can
diplomats."

Those who can most truly be accounted brave, are those who know the meaning of what is sweet in life and what is terrible, and then go out, undeterred, to meet what is to come.
-Pericles.
If it had not been for these things, I might have lived out my life talking at street corners to scorning men. I might have died, unmarked, unknown, a failure. Now we are not a failure. This is our career and our triumph. Never in our full life could we hope to do such work for tolerance, for justice, for man's understanding of man as now we do by accident. Our words--our lives--our pains--nothing! The taking of our lives--lives of a good shoemaker and a poor fish-peddler--all! That last moment belongs to us--that agony is our triumph.
~ Bartolomeo Vanzetti.

I am married and work at a public library in the vicinity of Dayton, Ohio. We have two sons, one of whom this web page is dedicated to - our son, Aaron, who has just returned safely after serving with the U.S. Army for more than 400 days in Iraq. He left us last October, and as you can imagine, we missed him terribly. We are now celebrating his return along with our other son, Josh, who is a musician and a college student. We also have an Italian daughter (of sorts). Arianna is from Torino, Italy, where she is now with her family, completing her last year of liceo (Italian high school). Italy is also our second home as we were privileged to have raised our children there. VIVA ITALIA!
VIVA ITALIA!!

Can't you just see the look on the teacher's face as she read that one! How far south do you have to go to get out of snow and bad weather and how did you get there?
Great suggestion! That song would fit great! News on the house is that we can now close as early as tomorrow (Tuesday) and as late as Friday bc the septic info came through. When do you think you guys will be able to make it down?
