Reviews Of ITAMAR's Music:

"Wow! This is great stuff!!"

(Kramer, Shimmy Disc. Kramer has Produced/Recorded/Mixed/Discovered: "Lou Reed, Robert Wyatt, Daniel Johnston, Debbie Harry, produced the Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction's single – "Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon" and many more.)

"Beautiful!"

(Lish, Warner)

"Good quality stuff!"

(Laurence Bell, Head of Domino Records)

"Really enjoyed going through the myspace site, listening to the tracks and reading the reviews. The standout track for me is You Were Right - really good melody and a great hook. I'll continue to spread the Itamar word"

(Caroline Murphy, program controller on This Is Global (GCap Media))

"Itamar has a beautiful voice and he deserves to do well!"

(Hilary Robinson, Producer on BBC Radio 2)

"Sounds like the Israeli Morrissey!"

(Jim Gellatley, Presenter on BBC Scotland and Radio Academy PRS John Peel Award Winner)

"'Mr. Right' rocks!"

(Jon Holmes, presenter on BBC 6 Music)

"A TERRIFIC E.P.!
THE VOICE OF ITAMAR IS ONE OF THE MOST UNIQUE INSTRUMENTS I'VE HEARD IN A LONG TIME"

(Chris Phillips, presenter on BRFM radio)

"The EP is absolutely stunningly good! And what a voice!!!"

(Anver Anderson, presenter on Staint FM)

"Itamar has a fine voice and I can understand why people compare him to Dave Gahan"

(Jeff Smith, Head Of Music on BBC Radio 2 and BBC 6 Music)

"You're very good! there's a bit of Roy Orbison, Tony Hadley and Morrissey in there. All great singers of course!"

(Emma Scott, presenter on Kerrang! Radio)

"I have been listening to the EP and I particularly like 'Mr Right' and the guitar solo towards the end of the track, in fact the melodies and especially the guitar riffs are very strong on all the records... Absolutely brilliant!"

(James Santer, Music Scheduler on Exeter FM)

"I got alot of positive feedback from the "You were right" song I played today. Which I can understand, this song really does have potential!!"

(Lewis Clarke, presenter on Chorley FM)

"It is surely but a matter of time until things start to take off for this artist... The beauty of Itamar's music - even if it isn’t to your taste, it still keeps you on your toes and as soon as you think that you have his style all figured out then bam – the closing section of ‘You Were Right’ kicks in taking you by surprise and leaves the listener asking where that came from"

(Matt Willis, Music Journalist of Altsounds)

"an excellent and intriguing mix of Eastern flavours and Western rock dynamics"

(John O'Regan, Music Journalist for Mojo, Hot Press etc.)

"A promising EP that could show the beginnings of a successful pop rock songwriter"

( Jo Vallance, Music Journalist of Room Thirteen)

"If only more mainstream bands had half as many ideas as Itamar, we may have a top ten worth getting excited about"

(Ollie Cornish, Music Journalist for Music-News.com)

"There is more than enough to like here, enough to suggest that Itamar would be a truly interesting addition to the wider musical world."

(Stuart Mclachlan, Music Journalist of The-Mag)

"ITAMAR's voice has a haunting, beautiful sound. The riffs, though not my typical, hard rock favs had an unpredictability about them that made me actually want to listen to more... with each song having a very individual sound. OMG..ORIGINAL????...Is that POSSIBLE in our cookie-cutter music world? Wow.. YES!"

(The Caustic Queen, Music Journalist of Hot Fudge Magazine, US)

"The very talented and melodic Itamar: Itamar is one of those indie artists who actually sing as opposed to delivering his lyrics, giving him a somewhat old school sound and feel. Don’t be fooled by that though, You Were Right is a pretty powerful pop song, and one that remains echoing about in your head... A whimsical pop song with a hypnotic rhythm and catchy guitar hook."

(Dave Chislett- Music journalist)

"Incredible stuff there! 'You Were Right' is very melodic. Nice rhythms and catchy guitars! a really really strong song!"

(Dale Olivier- Director/Head of Music/A&R of Matchbox Recordings)

"I was pleasantly surprised to hear your unique sound and to also hear the degree of talent. Your instrumentation is tight and forceful when it needs to be. The vocals are clear and with great tone. The lyrics and arrangements make you want to listen to the songs over and over. It’s very rare when I can see potential in a band like I see in yours. Btw, I really love "Our Song" and see it charting easily on Billboard. I know the US audiences would love you. you have the look and the talent."

(Clairissa, A&R Executive MBC-STAR)

"Absolutely brilliant performance!!"

(Charlie, owner of the George & Vulture venue)

"Hi Itamar! Wicked show last night! Especailly enjoyed the song Colours! You have to get it recorded ASAP mate! What a song! You really got it goin on bro! Definitely one of the best shows we've been to lately!"

(Best Unsigned Bands Gigging London)

"Excellent voice! He sounds unique. Reminds me of Morrissey."

(Peter McGaughrin, head of Yes Please Recordings, Polydor)

"we really love your music!"

(Snakes & Ladders Records)

"I'll be honest with you - when I got your request I thought, oh great another musician!! Yet I am typing here now..! Die With Beauty - WOW! It caught me almost immediately. I sat here laughing at myself for being so ashamedly dismissive beforehand and I am not exaggerating when I say I absolutely love it! (I can see why Morrissey is in your top friends!) The music plays with the listener in a fun way, but the lyrics hold you and the rhythm is inducing. A brilliant track. I also listened to Mr. Right- superbly performed number. You are one talented musician!!"

(Peter Halpin- Actor and Presenter)

"Itamar has his own sound and im sure there are plenty of people who would like his tunes."

(Dan Sealey- Ocean Colour Scene member, and a solo artist)

So What DO People think?

"You are actually more accomplished than some of your influences."

(Jason, London, UK)

"ur reli good man , i cant reli say i ave heard of u be4 now but i think i will be hearing more bout ya in the future. peace"

(Luke, Wisbech, UK)

(Paul D, UK)

"just listened to a couple of your songs they are really deep you will go far with them i think thats what this country needs a song writer and performer that can show his emotions through his music in a way that people can under stand.not many artists can do that now days truly great."

(Rachel, London, UK)

"In You Were Right-I can hear your influences being The Smiths whom I am a big fan but at the same this track is made your own by the combination of guitarmelody and strong melodic vocals. Good Work!
Our Song- A melodic masterpiece.
It's so refreshing hearing someone who can get the best out their instruments, using them to their full potential. A lot of bands these days don't quite do that."

(Tommy, Burntwood, UK)

"Splendid work, love. It's as if I'm listening to the Israeli answer to Brett Anderson (Suede's singer). Superb."

(Talya, Haifa, Israel)

"i just cant get enough of ur music its great! i going to buy ur album defo keep up the exalent work!"

(Monky, UK)

"You've got a great collection of songs here; well written, intelligent and refined. 'You Were Right' is elegant post pop indie that's certain to catch attention and 'Hide' is a little stormer that can't help but get a crowd bouncing.
I was also struck by 'Distance' with its lullaby-esque simplicity. A song more crafted than written.
Some wonderful tracks here. Hope to see you touring soon."

(The Phonographic Ramblings of Chris Thomas, Leeds, UK)

"yo bruv thanx for th request, much appreciated bruv, loving the music that guitar hits the heart deep bruv, especially feelin on the song called Distance"

(Misty, London, UK)

"I've been to dozens of local shows and such and usually the bands are good but nothing spectacular. I was really impressed however by the unique sound of your band. Definite style and talent was demonstrated. It was a show I'd love to see again :) Cheers XXX"

ITAMAR is on the cover of ALONDON- the Jewish/Israeli magazine in London-
this month (24/04/09). The cover story about ITAMAR, by Karen Russo, includes a review.
Here's some of what she wrote(26/03/09):
24/04/09 "Itamar's self-released EP Die WIth Beauty is a mixture of energic and melodic rock songs, that reflect his influences of bands such as Suede, Cure, Depeche Mode and Radiohead... Itamar's dominant bass voice gives his songs honesty and talent to create catchy pop-rock hits that keep echoing in your head."

A review by DJ Grumpy, presenter on Music World Radio is now online (26/03/09):
"A new group of captivating talents has emerged on the british indie pop/rock scene. The name is Itamar and you may not know it now, but you most certainly will.
Theyre performing delicate pieces of pop/rock with a dark edge and a genuine energy that brings back memories of the qualitative height of the new wave movements whilst still presenting a unique hope for the future.
Itamar have their very own style and the vocal especially isnt to be missed..."
You can read the full review on DJ Grumpy's blog

A review by Jo Vallance, on Room Thirteen is now online (04/03/09):
"‘Mr Right’ is a class tune with some crunching rock riffs and a fast-paced tune that spills out into moments of pondering reverie. It has the frustration and drive to really make a mark with a snarling solo that winds the whole thing up to an epic peak...Itamar can certainly write a song...a very promising start and plenty of talent..."

A new review by Stuart McLachlan, on The-Mag is online (23/01/09):
"'You Were Right', for example, is a pearl of a tune.
There is more than enough to like here, enough to suggest that Itamar would be a truly interesting addition to the wider musical world.
Something has to be said about his voice, a deep liquid instrument that begs comparison with... who? There isn't really anyone around who croons chart-bothering melodies so intimately...
The pearl of pearls is 'Distance'... It's a whole new level of depth in an already charming debut."
You can read the full review on The-Mag

A review by The Caustic Queen from Hot Fudge Magzine (US) is online (27/12/08):
"The voice I heard had a haunting, beautiful sound. The riffs, though not my typical, hard rock favs had an unpredictability about them that made me actually want to listen to more... with each song having a very individual sound. OMG.. a band that is actually ORIGINAL????...Is that POSSIBLE in our cookie-cutter music world? Wow.. YES!...
Do I recommend this band?...
For those of you that appreciate artists who took their own path to glory, who enjoy hearing something fresh and different, and to those of you with a love for creativity and talent, DEFINITELY". To read the full review go to the Hot Fudge Magazine Blog

A review of ITAMAR's gig on the 16/12/08 by Stuart McLachlan (The Mag) is now online on his blog:
"Many would fold or sulk on such an evening. Itamar... come out with something like a triumph...From their easy chemistry, you'd think they'd played together for years. The EP's songs, which were already very good, grow wings and start to fly around. To name just two, "You were Right" is chart-friendly indie rock, but oh so much more, while "Distance" is heartbreakingly lovely.".
You can read the full review on Stuart's blog

A new review of ITAMAR's new EP by Matt Willis of Altsounds is now online (14/12/08):
"It is surely but a matter of time until things start to take off for this artist...
The beauty of Itamar's music - even if it isn’t to your taste, it still keeps you on your toes and as soon as you think that you have his style all figured out then bam – the closing section of ‘You Were Right’ kicks in taking you by surprise and leaves the listener asking where that came from".
You can read the full review on the Altsounds site

A Review by Chris Phillips (BRFM 97.3fm SE Wales) is now online (22/07/08)
on ITAMAR's blog or this link:
"Perfect single material...Dreamy Stuff...Itamar's uniquely unusual voice is complimented by tremendous guitar work"

Born to a doctor and a nurse, Itamar's life has always been subjected to constant change.
At the age of nine, a short while after the Gulf War, Itamar's father was chosen to be a part of a mission to provide assistance for a hospital in Bophutatswana in South Africa.
For a year and a half, Itamar studied at the "Mafikeng" private Elementary school, where he was introduced to a different type of education, with very strict rules, and was met with people of a different culture.

After a while, Itamar's father's performances at the hospital were so impressive that he was invited to become the president's personal doctor.
However, political forces who objected the president soon decided to try and overthrow the government, and as a result of, Itamar's family was forced to return to Israel.

Itamar started playing guitar at the age of 13, after listening to his father's old Elvis tapes. Itamar was inspired.
He soon began to study music on his own, learning from each new band that came across his way.
He started writing his own songs, under the influences of British bands such as Depeche Mode, Suede, Radiohead, The Smiths, Pulp, The Cure and more. ,p> After years of experimenting and self-teaching, Itamar decided to move to Tel Aviv and make his dreams come true.
He started taking vocal lessons, and soon enough, he formed the band called The Grip.
Itamar was the lead singer of the band, played rhythm guitar, and was the songwriter of the band.

After 3 years of practicing and performing across Israel, Itamar met the producer Alon Yehuda and decided to make his own First EP (with the songs that he performed with The Grip) musically produced by Yehuda.

The EP, which is called Die With Beauty, is available for download on iTunes.

Since then, Itamar's songs have been played on different radio stations all over Israel, including interviews on the radio, in newspapers and magazines.
Itamar was also played in different rock clubs in Israel.

Here, in the UK, he formed an exciting indie/rock act, which is actively gigging on the London live music circuit and building a noticeable momentum.

The critically acclaimed band consists of Itamar Starets on vocals and rhythm guitar, Fabien Flight on lead guitar, Grant Salmon on drums, and Pete Ellis on the bass.

In the meanwhile, Itamar has had significant airplays on more than 40 radio stations across the UK, including BBC 6 Music (he was played twice on the Jon Holmes Saturday afternoon show), Kerrang! Radio, Manx Radio and Northern Media Group.
As well as being played on international stations, such as Radio Caroline, Radio Tatras International and Radio Six International.
His songs have also been featured on the high rotation playlists of many stations; titled as “Record of the Week” and more.

Itamar has also been invited to sessions in many radio stations, including Kerrang! Radio, and Roundhouse (the famous venue’s) Radio.

He has been compared to Morrissey, Dave Gahan and Jarvis Cocker by radio producers, presenters, music journalists and more; whereas receiving many compliments for his unique sound and versatility of song writing.

Itamar is getting ready these days for the recording of his anticipated first LP, with his band.

Hi Itamar

Sorry for the delay in responding.  Just having a listen now... really like Distance!

We are different in terms of what we write/sing, but I always appreciate listening to other musicians. Think you can learn a lot from others, even if you are very different in terms of style.

Let me know what you think of my music.... you'll probably want to stick your fingers down your throat as it's more kind of pop/rnb... unless you like that style?

Hi !
Sorry I forgot to tell you but yes I listened to your music and I like it. I must say I'm very fond of music and when a good guitar player is involded I'm quickly charmed :)
I saw you'll play on Decenber the 15 so I will most likely see you then. It's always better to listen to the songs in live to really appreciate it.

Hoping you'll understand a French girl who tries to write in English ;)

Yes I listened to your music and must admit, very interesting sounds :) With your gothic type of voice I think you would sounds great in even harder rock :)

Anyway, keep me posted on your progress and if you will be lacking in getting what you are aiming for in your music career let me know too. I will be happy to support you.

Best wishes,

Aleks
