IT TAKES A VILLAGE TO MAKE RECORDS brings musicians and visual artists together. We are interested in boundary-breakers. . ITAV is a design-based collective: we can partner with other independent labels to offer art and design which captures the spirit of a recording. ITAV is a project label and therefore home to few bands, however we constantly seek new sounds and craft compilation CDs based on what we hear. We're open to growing. We believe in visual magnetics and in advancing music and art that is sonically arresting and pushes the thought envelope. We're detail-oriented and proud of our catalog. We also believe in being efficient and fair. If you like what we do and would like us to partner on a project with you, please contact Peter via this here myspace page.
Our current project, AUTHORLESS, is highlighted below:
AUTHORLESS is an emerging musical experiment that launched August 1, 2008. Ten demo songs have been offered to musicians of all backgrounds and levels of notoriety, with the understanding that the songs may be altered in any way -- rearranged, rewritten, or reimagined; then passed on to a new group of musicians to alter even further. After the songs have been through 6 stages of changes, all versions go to Paul Roessler (The Screamers, .45 Grave, Nina Hagen) to be ultimately mixed/mastered into one full-length album -- no doubt in a vastly different form than the "root demos" in the SNOCAP store above. You can help AUTHORLESS succeed by purchasing the seed tracks above. As new versions arrive, they will be added to the store. Since this is a fundraiser for AUTHORLESS, each track is $0.99, or you can buy all ten root demos as a package for under ten bucks. Both ways help a lot! To participate in AUTHORLESS, drop me a message!

In The Orchard Of Osiris [Compilation] (In Production for 2009)
"In The Orchard Of Osiris" is a free-thinking and iconoclastic compilation from Lansing, MI-based creative collective It Takes A Village To Make Records. It is a statement of purpose coupled with a musical manifesto: We propose to create, expose, and excavate the muse in its most unusual guises. To that effect, we are seeking song submissions from the extended ITAV family, from around the country, and from around the world. We're looking for exclusive or new tracks, whether they be an obscure unreleased song, a forthcoming track, an especially revelatory bedroom 4-track, or a quality live recording that captures a peak moment of inspiration. Any and all genres will be considered, with a good overall listen being the deciding factor on the final playlist. Musicians maintain all the rights to their music, and the finished product will be professionally mastered and beautifully packaged. Song submissions are due September 15, 2009. Inquire within!
