Ithaca Experimental is a local arts organization devoted primarily to presenting new music. We are committed to experimental music in all of its forms, and are particularly interested in supporting regional scenes (e.g., the drone/free folk/noise projects found throughout upstate NY) while at the same time bringing national acts (especially electroacoustic improv and other improv and electronics-oriented projects). We've been putting on shows since June of 2007 and are always looking to host new events.

For a regularly updated account of our projects and the general context surrounding our endeavors, please see the website http://www.ithacaexperimental.blogspot.com. A closely related website is the arts blog of the Ithaca Times, called Popcorn Youth, at http://www.ithacatimesartsblog.com, which covers not only our music but many of our influences' and friends' music in the area. The Ithaca Times arts section was voted "Best Arts Coverage in 2006" for all of NY state by the New York State Press Association and we are proud to be associated with it.

The organizing concept behind Ithaca Experimental is "building community through sound." We are committed to all of the local arts, especially those that push the boundaries of the expected and that open new ways of thinking about old questions. If you are interested in becoming involved, or in adding yourself to our email list, please send us a message, as we would be most happy to hear from you. Folks from upstate or anywhere else who would be interested in playing a show in Ithaca are especially encouraged to contact me at ithacaexperimental at gmail dot com.
