Jim Morrison's "Live fast, die young, and leave a good looking corpse" never rang truer for It's All Meat, the unadulterated hell raisers who spent their short-lived rock stardom utterly stoned, trashed, or in prison.
The guys hailed from Canada and released a superb, but little known album on the Columbia label in 1970. With keyboard-dominated psychedelia, monster garage and haunting wah-wah, the band almost sound like the Doors ("Crying Into A Deep Lake") while at other times the band is a dead ringer for the Rolling Stones ("Make Some Use Of Your Friends"). However, no band could recycle that awesome sensuality that bursts out of their 1969 single, "Feel It".
It's All Meat never made it really big, they were too busy doing speedballs (in a time where everybody else was on acid), getting arrested and socking it to their record company. Their rock and roll excesses was duly appreciated and endorsed by the likes of Keith Richards and Iggy Pop, but unfortunately the band split up before the rest of the world had a chance to FEEL IT......
