Quotes on the Band:
With a name referencing a Nintendo game, It's a Secret to Everybody doesn't disappoint. Whether you're a fan of videogames or not, you can easily appreciate the brilliant sounds of synthesizers, electronic drums, and vintage organs. Originally the idea of Marty, the band's Nintendo game referencing doesn't stop with the name. Songs like Party Like it's 200X, for example, pay homage to both Prince and Mega Man, while other songs include samples from Nintendo games and bands (Kraftwerk in Oh! These Wooden Panels). As far as the band's writing process, Marty spends all hours of the night programming synthesizers, syncopating drum machines, and writing songs while Abby and Aiju figure out why he is so fixated on creating such weird sounding songs that could easily fit on a videogame soundtrack. One thing is for sure, this band is definately worth a view, but when the set ends, sadly, there is no reset button to start over. --Gunpei Yokoi
Honestly, I was blown away by how good It’s a Secret to Everybody was live. I don’t know how they do it (because it’s a secret) but they perfectly orchestrate a combination of sounds from synthesizers, guitar, electronic drums, sweet lullaby vocals, vintage organ, and a heavy dash of Nintendo, and create pure musical brilliance. I danced my ass off, as did most of the crowd. And I can’t wait to do it again. Just don’t mention Sega Genesis during the show…it might cause a brawl. It’s a Secret to Everybody is one of the most interesting, creative, talented and fun bands I’ve seen. Spread the word and it won’t be a secret for long.

Video documentation of a performance piece by my friend Nate Kassel who rode around on his bike slapping high-fives to people who were trying to hail taxi cabs in NYC. Enjoy!
