I collect musical instruments. My collection includes a bass guitar given to me by Ira Dean, when he was with Trick Pony. I have a Gibson mandolin that belonged to my uncle. Several guitars, two keyboards, and a Hammond Organ. And, there's the Fender banjo autographed by the Dixie Chicks, before the incident in London. I hope to add a dobro and a mandocaster to my collection. And an upright bass, too! If you have any you wanna get rid of, let me know!
My sister got me into collecting antiques, and I have quite the assortment of old furniture. Being a music lover, I also have acquired 3 Victrola's, an Edison phonograph that plays cylinders, and a couple older tabletop radios from the early days of FM.
Outside the house, I enjoy fishing, going to concerts, traveling, exploring old cities like St. Augustine and Savannah, going to auctions, watching movies and football, and I am open to doing things I haven't tried yet.
Music
Country music is, and will always be, my first love. Lately, I have been listening to "That Lonesome Song" by Jamey Johnson, "Play" from Brad Paisley, and Randy Houser's debut CD.
I also enjoy southern rock, blues, southern gospel, and classic soul music. For several years I lived near Fayetteville NC, and that area is a true melting pot of musical styles. If it's good music, I like it! Since the passing of Billy Powell, I've been listening to some Skynyrd tunes. And, there's some incredible things on youtube.com from Jimmy Hall, the long time lead singer of Wet Willie. Talk about some great pipes!
I also listen to some great musicians who aren't necessarily household names. Super pickers like James Burton, Robben Ford, Albert Lee, Red Volkaert, Bill Kirchen, and Clint Strong. You may not know their names, but you have heard them play! And the fantastic female bass guitarist from Australia, Tal Wilkenfeld (check out her myspace). She is mind blowing good!
Movies
Anything with Clint Eastwood, Kevin Spacey, Johnny Depp, Hillary Swank, Sandra Bullock, and Joe Pesci...Kate Beckinsale in Serendipity. "Crossroads", with Ralph Maccio and Joe Seneca. "Midnight In The Garden of Good And Evil", "Must Love Dogs". I love old westerns too, with Clint Walker, Randolph Scott, and James Gardner.
Television
I just upgraded my DirecTV to high def, and added the package that includes most of the premium movie channels. And, even with so many channels to chose from, there are many nights you just can't find anything worth watching! Sometimes I think the shows were better when we only had three channels. Those programs are almost all still on TVLand and other cable channels!
Occasionally, HBO will come up with something great, like the "John Adams" series. It was produced by Tom Hanks. If they rerun it, pay close attention to the dialogue between Adams, Thomas Jefferson, George Washington and the other founding fathers, and you will quickly realize just how lame today's politicians really are!
I enjoy a variety of shows, ranging from "The Gaither Homecomings" to "CMT Crossroads"; "American Idol" to "Hannity". Have you seen the Meacum Car Auctions on HDTV? Classic cars and muscle cars, all so nice they make me dream of winning the lottery so I can buy a few! LOL
HBO's "Big Love" is a remarkable show (another Tom Hanks creation), but they have canceled some of my favorite shows in the past couple years; "Deadwood", "Carnivale" and "The Sopranos".
I also love "Cash In The Attic" (British version) and "Antiques Road Show".
NFL Football, since I am a Bucs fan. And, NBA Basketball...GO MAGIC! I also watch a lot of programs on NatGeo, Fox News Channel, Smithsonian, and ESPN.And Encore's Western Channel! Lately, Encore Western has been showing the original Maverick series with James Garner weekday mornings, and the Brett Maverick series on Saturday mornings. Country singer and songwriter Ed Bruce played the former sheriff turned bartender on that show! I also like "Cheyenne" with Clint Walker.
Books
Trace Adkins new book is killer! I love that he doesn't sugarcoat his opinions, and that he has done a lot of thinking while forming his views.
The "Left Behind" series.
Any autobiography or biography about singers and actors. Antique guides. History of the old west.
To the other extreme, any book written by Tom Robbins!
Heroes
I admire people who stand by their beliefs, regardless of how unpopular it makes them with the rest of the world. Former President Bush fits that description. Charlie Daniels does, too. Check out Charlie's Soapbox on his website, charliedaniels.com.
And, there's my long time friend, Don, who did three tours of duty in Vietnam. Don's health is rapidly failing, due in part to the things he was exposed to while serving our country in a war the politicans wouldn't allow us to win. Don has been a brother to me, and our families have merged over the years. We were together in my first band, and hunted and fished together. God be with you!
And my heartfelt appreciation to anyone who has ever worn the uniform and served our country!
About me: Thanks for checking out my page!
Most people know me from hosting the afternoon show on K Country. I hope after checking out this site, you'll know a little more about the person behind the radio show.
I have been divorced for several years. My ex wife and I are good friends, and I keep in close contact with my stepdaughter Brandy, who is now a mother of three.
I am a country music fan...I have played in bands in the past (bass guitar, lead vocals). During my musical career, I had the pleasure to open concerts for John Conlee, Gene Watson, Collin Raye, Ricky Skaggs, Sawyer Brown, Earl Thomas Conley, Trick Pony, John Anderson, Joe Diffie, Travis Tritt, and others. My band performed in the Orlando area at The Barn, Cheyenne Saloon, and Sullivans. In the late 80's, Johnny Rodriguez hired us as his band for all his concerts in Florida.
These days, when I am not working, I spend time with family, go to antique auctions (hello to David at Turkey Creek) I fish when I can, and play my guitars and keyboards. I also love horseback riding.

Who I'd like to meet:
If I could go back in time, Thomas Jefferson. One of the greatest minds our country has ever produced! We could use someone of his intelligence and ethics today to put this country back in the right direction!
Merle Haggard, one of the greatest singers and songwriters ever (I have a guitar I'm dying to have him sign!)I hope to someday tell Merle that his music is what got me into country music. I guess I owe my career to him!
Linda Ronstadt, my first "love", when I was 12. I got to see her in concert once, and it was before I had access to backstage passes. I still think she is one of the finest singers ever. She was inspired by Patsy Cline, and if you go back a few years, almost every female singer said Linda influenced them! She helped many singers and songwriters along the way, including Emmylou Harris, who later introduced us to Ricky Skaggs, Rodney Crowell, and Vince Gill, who played in her bands. And, who could forget that one of Linda's own bands later became the Eagles!
For some reason, I am a sucker for ladies with British accents...Kelly LeBrock and Kate Beckinsale, just to name a couple!
oh ok thats rightt. and awesome (: yeah i stilll live here in florida. by ocala. and i remeber the cool festival things that yall had and its was where we took a picture and got it put on a button.lol.
Hey do you think I can hear "Big Green Tractor" by Jason Aldean.. Its kinda a dedication to me and my girlfriend.. Oh and I saw you the other day at the Johnathon Singleton and The Grove Concert which was a ball! Well have a great day!
