The Action Figures was established May of 2008. After sharing the same bill opening shows on numerous occasions, two local Maryland crews, Makeshift Deluxe and The Equation; decided to join forces. Collectively, they've performed live shows with Skillz, Blu & Exile, The Xecutioners, and their Album Release Party respectively with Busy Bee, Biz Markie and Brand Nubian. Makeshift Deluxe has also performed with: Slick Rick, Bootcamp Clik, Rakim, Talib Kweli, Little Brother, Kool Keith, Jeru da Damaja, Masta Ace, Souls of Mischief, The Beatnuts, Akrobatik, Louis Logic, and many others. Berd, Minus & Ton were featured in Emajor's Nuthin Nice video ft. Hezekiah, as well as their own REIGN video. Makeshift & Action Figures were named Top 5 BALTIMORE live groups by Sirus' DJ Remedey. Individually, Minus Nine has also been making waves up and down the east coast as a dj the last few years. In 2008-2009 he became an Official DJ of the Washington Wizards with Big Tigger, in addition to gigs all over the DMV and Tri-State Area. Ull Neva No, has established himself as a battle emcee in Baltimore and recently joined "The Grind Time" Battle League in New York, founded by Pumpkin Head. Makeshift Deluxe is releasing a double sided single this summer (2009) featuring, "QB to MD" ft. Tragedy Khadafi, b/w , "The Big East" ft. Reef the Lost Cauze. The debut full length Action Figures LP, "Fresh Out the Box" just dropped May 31, 2009 and is now available. In addition to the album, AF dropped a tee collab with their sponsors: PedX Clothing, Sould Clothing and AlwaysDope. A limited edition skateboard, with VU skateshop in Baltimore, is also in the works. Following the album release we're dropping the "Standing Ovation EP" in July 2009, so look out for that! Whether doing shows, promoting streetwear lines, hosting, djing, collaborating with other companies, or battling, the Action Figures are ready to keep the movement and legacy alive.
