FOURTEEN SHOWS, SIX POETS, ONE VAN…
… YES, IT’S GENERATION TXT

Following the success of acclaimed new poetry anthology Generation Txt, penned in the margins is taking the six gifted young poets featured in the book on a national tour to fourteen venues. Hand-picked from a nationwide search for writing talent, the poets include former Northern Young Writer of the Year Emma McGordon and celebrated performance poet Inua Ellams, as well as Joe Dunthorne, whose debut novel Submarine has just been snapped up by Hamish Hamilton. Natural Sciences graduate Laura Forman, creative writing student Abigail Oborne and experimental poet and text artist James Wilkes complete the bill.

Hailed by distinguished poet and critic Roddy Lumsden as 'a vital cross-section of the poetry that will progress and flourish' and by the TES as 'a creative ideas manual', the Generation Txt tour will be a must-see event for anyone interested in the future of literature.

Fecking amazing episode this week, loving the fact that nearly every other sketch was Brendon. Lovely. Thank you. Now could we do the same with the next episode but have every alternative sketch was Matt and Carey would be very grateful.

I just wanted to tell you, that, I, uh ... I, uh ...

Oh dammit! I forgot what I was going to say. Again!

Why does this keep happening to me? But hey, losing your memory is not ALL bad.

For instance, being senile means NEVER having to say you're sorry.

No matter how many times you've heard the same old joke, the punchline is ALWAYS a surprise!

You can have breakfast as many times a day as you want!

You really don't care if there's nothing but reruns on TV.

Everytime you make love, you get the thrill and excitement of losing your virginity all over again.

AND YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE TO ASK THE GIRL HER NAME!

So finally, I remembered to talk to the doctor about my memory loss. He told me it was Attention Deficit Disorder.

I thought: Great! Thanks for the A.D.D.

Hi Comedy Cuts, just to let yi know that the next chapter of ‘The Woman Who Was Not Adele’ up in my blog. The latest edition of blinkzine
has an interview with me that gives some background to the novel. But of course, i don't just write serious stuff. here is witty short article i wrote about Galway's art scene. It was originally published in IRELAND XPOSED. Enjoy!

'International Hug A Canadian Day'
A brief yet bloody exchange of foul language and fisticuffs broke out as Galway City Councillors debated whether to give financial backing to the 'International Hug A Canadian Day (IHACD)' committee. With Galway City Council already supporting the annual 'Salthill Lets Celebrate Bombing Arabs Air show', it was deemed appropriate that, in the interest of cultural balance, councillors should likewise endorse an event that advocates spreading warmth towards foreigners as opposed to High Explosives, White Phosphorous and Depleted Uranium.
After fulsome - but friendly - exchanges over Ottawa's pro-seal cull/anti-Kyoto Agreement policies, councillors finally concurred that most Canadians are very sweet and deserving of hugs. "Neil Young is God,' enthused one particularly excited councillor. Concern was raised though over whether any Canadians actually lived in Galway. Fortunately, IHACD's own research had uncovered the existence of a Canadian born individual now resident in Barna.
Cameron McPhee LaGrange was abandoned as an idiot child in the hills of Connemara, where he was reared by a pod of wild sheep. In the late 1980s he gained notoriety as the half-sheep/half-boy dog worrier of Letterfrack. Rescued by a joint Garda /Western Health Board operation, the child quickly grew into a handsome youth with a penchant for Crystal Meth abuse. In 1996 Mr LaGrange gained employment as a sewage operative, and for the last four years has represented Ireland at the yearly Faecal Flow and Maintenance Negotiations at Davros, Switzerland.
Councillors agreed that LaGrange was a fine exemplar of Canada's contribution to Ireland's culture. However, just as a financial package was about to be agreed apon, one eagle eyed councillor noticed that the address for the IHACD committee was the same as that for Pierce O'Fuckitt, the respected Concrete Mogul and Dedicated Alcoholic, who also happens to be the cousin of the councillor who originally supported IHACD's application for financial backing.
Accusations and counter accusations were exchanged; voices rose and
fists flew hither, yither and yon. As the esteemed Elect of Galway rolled around the plush carpet of the debating chamber, biting, punching and spitting, order was only restored when one sensible – indeed visionary – individual cried out: 'Ladies and Gentlemen, please lets not forget that Alcohol and Concrete have made this City what it is today!'
At which cry the warring factions suddenly leapt up, gave out a mighty roar of approval and dutifully exchanged handshakes and blushes with one another. With equilibrium restored once more, Galway City Council voted unanimously to give its fulsome support to the 'International Hug A Canadian Day' committee. With Galway City endorsing this important event, Ireland is now one more country – along with Burma, Cameroon, Guatemala and Wales – whose citizens will be ensuring that Canada's culture is celebrated around the globe!
