Bricktown Live June 28th 2009
Phusion
Two young brothers from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma destined to reck the rap game.
Andrew J Wilkes(Crazie Flow), and Ronald L Wilkes Jr.(DJKUUL) have been thirsty for success for as long as they can remember.
Coming up in many hoods throughout their childhood. The Wilkes brothers have been to some of the hardest cities in the U.S.
They first got a taste of their rap talent at an early age. Crazie Flow who was only 8yrs of age, and DJKUUL who was 10, used to play around
with lyrics all the time, never realizing the power they would once come to know. They made what they titled "The Hood Album". The duo along with a neighborhood
friend by the name of Dante spent the summer of 1994 sitting on his porch with a tape recorder, and DJKUUL's skills at beatboxing, they recorded a 5 track album.
Although the lyrics were very adverage, their peers still found the little project very satisfying. The group never went farther then that summer, but it was a start.
The real mission wouldn't actually begin until some years later. In December of 2001at age 17, Ronald began to once again persue his dream to become a rap artist. He began calling himself Ramdogg the Kingpen. Picking up the mic for the very first time, he recorded his first single "Head Held High". Although coming from a low income family all his life production wasn't an option for him. Only having a pc mic, and free beats he could scrounge up from the internet, he built a name for himself. Ramdogg went on to record "Ramdogg(Das Who I Be)" and "People Trying" before the buzz he was creating over the internet began to reach out to other people who were also taking the internet approach. In 2002 Ramdogg had become a well placed name in a small community on Soundclick.com. Hooking up with fellow soundclick members Mon-T and BDogg, They formed a little group they called Dogg Inc. During all this, Andrew(Crazie Flow) began to once again take an interest in the rap game. After years of listening to rappers such as 2pac, Biggie, Common, Redman and Method Man, Mos Def, Wutang Clan, and Ramdogg(DJKUUL) he felt he was ready to follow in his brother's footsteps. Andrew known at that time as Da Vipa, grabbed the mic and recorded an intro song with his brother titled " Ramdogg presents Da Vipa" although it was more of a freestyle track it still got others interested in the duo. Da Vipa went on to do one other song titled "Bitch Girl" with Mon-T and Bdogg which went on to be one of Dogg Inc's greatest hits. During that time for Dogg Inc who had expanded from a few memebers into a nice roster, money began to become an issue for the crew. Beats were no longer shared among peers, so Dogg Inc hit a road block. Ramdogg decided he would put his mic down, and pick up the hat of being the producer. He sat down for hours upon hours and studied producers such as Mannie Fresh, Timbaland, Dr.Dre, P.Diddy(puff at the time), trying to brand himself a new sound. He became the crew's beat maker. Being that the crew was internet based, and the members were from the East, Midwest, and South Coasts, it became a task of trying to satisfy each members request. In doing so he began to master creating beats for those coasts. Still grounded in the South and Midwest, Ramdogg started creating a buzz in the producer industry. Guys from all over began wanting him to create them custom beats. Considering he was still learning he remained free to the public. Needing to seperate his rap status from his producing status he began calling himself DJKUUL. He knew that taking some time off from rapping and writing would hinder him from developing his lyrical skills, so he finally made the decision to retire his rap ego Ramdogg. DJKUUL continued to test the waters of the producing game, by producing West Coast beats, as well as the things he had already established. In spring of 2003 Dogg Inc began to fall apart. Being that all the members were getting impatient with the progress of the group, because they were stationed all over the united states, they eventually were forced to disband. Dogg Inc soon became a memory. Not long after the the seperation Andrew and Ronald went through some personal problems at home, and they too were forced to give up their dreams. Years continued to go by, but DJKUUL never stopped polishing his producing skills. In 2004 he began to test his skills with sampling. His very first sampled beat was titled "Love to Change the World". Studying Kanye West he began completely focusing on the sampling game. He would go on to build a nice portfolio of sampled beats ranging from all different types of songs. Classic Rock, Soul, R&B, and Classical music seemed to be his main focal point for sampling and still is to this day. In 2008 DJ decided he was ready to put together a rap group. Never leaving that side of him completely behind, he went on a search to find the perfect team to begin this project. Having knowledge of some close friends of his, and his baby brother he founded the group "CMD". The members were Andrew (now known as Crazie Flow), Jamelle(Melo), and Amos(Daddy D). Shorlty after recording their first single "Money on my Mind", the group stumbled upon disagreements in talent level, and Amos left the group. Wanting to keep his dream of a Trio power house alive, DJKUUL deciding to keep the name going, began writing discovering his lyrical talent still remained intact. The group started building a chemistry, and after a few weeks began putting hits together. They went on to record singles such as "Under America","Money,Power,Respect","Let's Get Em",and "On a Mission" under a new sound they like to call "Mid-South". After getting a little buzz going on the net, C.M.D. under went some rough times with member's dedication to the project. Melo decided to sepreate himself from the group and persue a career in college basketball. Leaving DJKUUL and Crazie Flow lost without any direction on where to take the group. During the short downtime, DJKUUL did a solo song reflecting on the things he had experienced during his childhood titled "Deep With in Me". Not accepting defeat the Wilkes brothers were once again a duo. Deciding to stick with the Mid-South sound they began putting a new project together. Phusion. The name seem to fit them well, because their lyrical ability were well developed. Crazie Flow having the more flashy punchline type style, and DJKUUL being more on the real talk side of things, but being able to switch to compliment one another, Phusion became the new dynamic duo. Picking up where they left off, and feeling like they were finally ready to take their skills and sound to the streets. Phusion hooked up with Sky Turner of Presidential Trap House, who has been a very good supporter for the groups direction. Taking the internet approach once again under DJKUUL's record label KINGKUUL Productions, Phusion along with the help of Sky Turner, and Perspective Music's CEO Grover Walker are about to take the game by storm. Releasing their first single "Killing Beats", and later on this year their first album "On A Mission", Phusion can finally say it time to give the rap game a makeover.
