About me:
Hello all , i'am Iván Tamez , musician , composer , and guitar player from Monterrey Mexico. I began playing the guitar at age 11 induced by my father Simón Tamez (R.I.P.)
who was a very talented musician and also in life in general. Im very lucky to have grown by him , he is my biggest influence. I started my first band at 14 (1984) when i asked to now my best friend Arturo Aguirre that i was looking for bass player and he sayed "well , i have one at my house" and i strated giving him "lessons". Interesting ,no? He was just beside me in the classroom and was the first person that i asked about!!!!Thats why i dont'believe in coincidence too much.
My brother Ruly Tamez was 11 when we started the band and my father bought him a modest drum kit to start playing together and our first band was born : WARNING (1984-1988)
Later talented vocalist Adrian Ibarra completed the picture doing vocals. After that i been having too many bands and proyects that im going to list later!!!
Troughout the years i have been influenced by many musicians and musics from all over the world and i like all types of music ; i believe that every music have its own virtuosos but i had to confess that rock captured my heart since i was 4 years old . One of the first bands that i ever listened , if not the first , was Deep Purple and to this day remains one of my favorites along Jimi Hendrix and other 70's rock icons.I had a lot of exposition to blues , rock and jazz and world music because of my father's eclectic tastes and soon became listening to musicians like B.B. King , Albert King , Gino Vanelli, Steely Dan , Deep Purple , Jimi Hendrix , Howard Roberts, Robin Trower , Frank Marino , Rainbow ,The Secos y Mohados , Ellis Regina , Sylvia Tellez ,Gil Evans ,music from different parts of the world like tibetan and balinese music between others that changed and influenced me in many ways.
I would like to mention that i have two brothers more who are musicians too: my sister Ethel Tamez (vocals) and Jimmy Tamez (bass) alongside with Ruly Tamez (drums) who is my favorite musician on this planet!!!
Today i like every music that capture my interest and it would be rock ,jazz , blues , metal and even what today is called rhythm and blues music , black metal, death metal etc...
i'm open to everything !!!
I love to play with the three bands and proyects that i'm now : my own project , Gígur ( art rock ,progressive and experimental)
Maligno (hard rock , doom metal) and Blues on Fire (blues , rock and jazz). I also play often with Celso Pina y su Ronda Bogota and Erika from La Academia between others and i do too studio sessions for them and other artists, indie or not. I also work for Chorus,a school of music teaching guitar to mostly children.

Who I'd like to meet:
Friends from all over the world . Everyone with and open mind about music and life in general. The guys in Opeth and Novembre , my two favorite metal bands now (i'm 3 or 4 years older than them but i feel a strange connection with them anyway ; i hear many similarities in my music and theirs , and at the same time the stuff we play is totally different !!! )
