Some house, a bit of soul, a touch of funk and a load of jazz (influence at least). Blend that lot together and the result is something a little bit different, laid back and refreshing. Every other Wednesday afternoon (14:00-16:00 gmt) on SS Radio Deep and Soulful.

Lucius Lowe brings one of his earliest productions "Sweet music" bang up-to-date on the latest release from Boogs Music. The package brings three different flavours to your record box - The classic, smooth vocal house sound of the "High on the groove mix," Hard-hitting club sounds from the "Thru the roof mix" and the deep and soulful groove of the original 2003 mix. Featuring haunting vocals from newcomer Lois Taylor, the package gives an accurate measure of how Lucius' production skills have been honed between composition of the original 2003 mix and more recent remixes. The "Thru the roof mix" also marks Lucius' first commercial release, included on the compilation CD "Dancefloor '06" from Manchester's D6 Records. Think Ian Carey meets the Groove Junkies and you won't be far off with this excellent offering from Boogs Music...

Headlining the New Year party we welcome back Mark du Mosch. This will be his third time at Slabs so it's fair to say that we have much respect for the Rotterdam artist. An obsessive collector, Mark's DJ sets manage to be intriguing and hard rocking in equal measures, and we really couldn't think of anyone better to headline the New Year extravaganza.
Joining Mark will be fellow Rotterdamer Ricky the Dragon, performing a rare live set as Electrick Dragon. Having put out records dating right back to the early 90s (under many many aliases), Ricky carries with him some proper techno credentials. With his most recent output on Moustache Records he has produced two epic synth party bombs that are now firm favourites of ours. We first caught the Dragon live show at the Magic Waves festival earlier this year and it blew us all away, and so are delighted to welcome Ricky to Glasgow for his first Scottish performance.
And finally, making the trip up from Brighton will be the Italo battle axe Casionova. Over the past two years Casionova has become a permanent fixture at Slabs of the Tabernacle. His DJ sets are straight from the heart affairs and again we couldn't think of a better guest to see off 2009.
