My name is Michael St.Germain, I am a singer/songwriter from Los Angeles, California. I have been singing in bands since I was 15, and started playing local clubs when I was 16 years old. It's all I have ever dreamed of doing, as far back as I can remember I have been fascinated with music. I remember when I was a little kid everyone was into KISS, I had never even heard a KISS song, but I was stealing paper out of my 3rd grade teachers desk to draw Ace Frehely. The first record that totally destroyed me was AC/DC's Back In Black, I can remember the first time I heard it. My friend Eric had an older brother that had all kinds of great records, and when he wasn't around we would go into his room and get lost in all of this great music. I remember looking at the cover....it was black with a "raised" black AC/DC logo on it. It was menacing. I had no idea what it was, but when we put it on it was like lightning....I was totally blown away. The first song I heard was Back In Black....and as soon as it kicked in I knew that I was forever changed. Eric's brother was into a lot of classic rock, so after AC/DC came bands like Foreigner, Loverboy, Queen, Cheap Trick, The Cars, and Journey. While everyone was listening to Bon Jovi, I was listening to Highway to Hell, Head Games, and Love Gun. When I was 12, I moved to San Francisco to live with my uncle. He was into bands like Led Zeppelin, Toto, Black Sabbath, The Beach Boys, The Stones, Bowie, and Roxy Music. I also got a healthy dose of Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Sarah Vaughn, and Etta James. To this day I am constantly moved by the music I discover, bands like Guns N Roses, ThirdEyeBlind, Finch, Jellyfish, Head Automatica, and Bullet For My Valentine.. there are so many great artists out there, stuff you may never get the chance to hear because some asshole in a suit has made that choice for you.
So don't buy into any of the the bullshit, just take a look at the world around you.
