Iwan Benead est né au Lilas (93), le 2 octobre 1984. Il commence l'étude du piano et du solfège à l'age de 5 ans. À 9 ans, il entre au Conservatoire Municipal du XXème arrondissement de Paris. À 18 ans, après le bac, il décide de devenir musicien professionnel. En 2004 il est diplômé de l'école de musique ATLA (75018 Paris). En 2007 il obtient son diplôme de fin d'études (3ème cycle) du Conservatoire.
Il a accompagné des chanteurs, en tant que pianiste, et joué dans des salles telles que les 7 Lézards, le Baiser Salé, et le New Morning. Etant d'origine bretonne, il décide, en 2003, d'apprendre le Breton . Très vite, il est séduit par la musicalité de cette nouvelle langue et commence à écrire des chansons influencées par des styles musicaux d'aujourd'hui ( Pop, Rock, Rap ).
Le 31 mai 2007 il reçoit, à Rennes, le 3ème prix de l'avenir de la langue bretonne dans la catégorie " Individuels ". Deux jours plus tard à Carhaix, il remporte le 1er tremplin musical dédié à la langue bretonne. Le 20 juin 2009 , il représente la Bretagne à l'Eurovision des langues celtiques à Inverness (Ecosse), il finit deuxième du vote du public. Actuellement, il travaille sur son premier album avec des chansons en Français, Anglais, Breton.

Iwan Benead was born in the Les Lilas (area of Paris) on October 2, 1984. He began to study piano and musical theory at the age of 5. At the age of 9 he joined the Academy of Music in Paris.
Iwan graduated with a degree from the Paris Atla School of Music in 2004. In 2007, he gained his '3rd cycle' diploma at the Academy. He has toured as a pianist with singers and played in concert halls such as the “7 Lézards,” “Le Baiser Salé” and “New Morning”. His family is originally from Brittany, and so in 2003, he decided to learn the Breton language. He quickly came to like the musical qualities of his new language and began to compose songs in Breton, taking inspiration from modern genres such as Pop, Rock and Rap. On the 31 May 2007 in Rennes, he won the third "future of the Breton language" award, in the "private individual" category. Two days later in Carhaix, he won the first musical "springboard" dedicated to the Breton language. On June 20th 2009, he represented Brittany at the Celtic "Eurovision" in Inverness (Scotland) and finished 2d of the public vote. He is currently working on his first album with songs in Breton, English, French and Breton.
