General	Founded in 2000, the Independent Women's Football League (IWFL) is an international women's tackle football organization. The IWFL provides women's tackle football teams the opportunity to play at the top competition tier of their sport, while fostering an environment of goodwill and sportsmanship throughout the organization. The IWFL is the standard bearer for quality in the sport of women's tackle football. Offering participation levels appropriate for all markets the IWFL has taken the lead in the development of women's football for future generations. The IWFL is represented in 41 different markets across the United States and Canada by teams that compete in one of two current competition categories. Standard national level IWFL teams represent the largest IWFL markets and are the most widely followed women's tackle football teams in the world. Appearing on countless television, web, and radio broadcasts over the past eight years, the IWFL member teams have become media regulars and proven themselves as effective marketing partners for their sponsors and communities. In 2008 the IWFL website (www.iwflsports.com) saw consistently increasing traffic with well over one million verifiable hits per month throughout the season. c_eckstein	Oct 30 2009 1:53 PM When I first heard about a women's pro football team in Portland, Oregon, I thought I misheard the ad. Come to find out that night I decided to google and see if there were any women's professional football teams. When I saw that there was a whole league I was so happy to see that. I just couldn't believe that my lifelong dream could finally come true. Although it has not yet come true cause I have not tried out, will soon though, I still imagine myself playing football. It's my first true love that I have grown up with and am so passionate about. Soon it will be my time to finally persue this dream of mine, one that I'm sure many women in the past wish they could have had a chance to persue. I want to thank everyone who is involved in women's football, thank you for the support, thank you for the hard work and determination to keep it going, and most of all thank you so much for making it possible for females to play this American sport we all love. Good Luck to everyone this year and have fun!
