Solistimiz Merve'nin Paris'e yerleşmesi sebebiyle bir süredir Iya Waves olarak müzik yapamıyoruz maalesef. Umarız kader ağlarını yeniden, ve bir başka şekilde örer.

Our lead singer Merve moved to Paris, and that made us to give a "break" for our music. Hopefully there'll be some other situation to fulfill our wishes to keep on positively vibrating..

Consisting of seven hearts and souls (until now and sometimes more), Iya Waves was formed in the spring of 2008 with the idea of performing the peaceful and wiggling sounds of roots reggae music and similar genres. Up to present, the band has been performing in several music clubs in and around Istanbul, and more importantly in some non-profit organizations such as Barışarock'08. Iya Waves has a quite remarkable energy on stage that draws the audience readily into the positive vibrations. They have a growing repertoire in which they cover songs of the most recognized reggae artists as well as the newcomers to the reggae-dub scene. The band sometimes mingles Turkish lyrics into the arrangements in order to form its own style and to accomplish expressing themselves. Nowadays, as their first own compositions start to emerge; their strong faith in music becomes the only base for them to glorify the message of love and unity.

Şimdilik yedi candan oluşan Iya Waves 2008 yılının baharında roots reggae ve benzeri müziklerin barışçıl ve kıpır kıpır "sound"unu icra etmek fikriyle kuruldu. Grup şimdiye kadar İstanbul'da ve İstanbul dışında çeşitli mekânlarda ve daha da önemlisi Barışarock'08 gibi sosyal içerikli, kar amacı gütmeyen organizasyonlarda sahne aldı. Iya Waves dikkate şayan sahne enerjisiyle dinleyenlerini hızla pozitif titreşimlerin içine çekmeyi başarıyor. Gittikçe genişleyen repertuarlarında reggae müziğin üstadlarının yanı sıra adını yeni duyurmaya başlayan reggae-dub sanatçılarının da şarkıları var. Zaman zaman düzenlemelerine Türkçe sözler de katan grup bu sayede kendi stilini oluşturmaya ve kendini ifade etmeye çabalıyor. Şu günlerde beste çalışmalarına da başlamış olan Iya Waves'in müziğe olan güçlü inancı, onlar için aşk ve birlik mesajını yüceltebilecekleri tek dayanak noktası haline gelmekte.
