Izaak Shiddy is a Ugandan Artist (singer, actor, song composer/writer). His love for music started in his primary three when he was chosen to lead the class choir on a speech day. He then joined the school choir as an actor, singer, and traditional instrumentalist. When the school acquired a brass band, he immediately dropped his previous roles in the choir and joined the band. While in the Band Shiddy played several instruments and concentrated on mastering the trumpet. He was in the same brass band with Isaiah Katumwa and Sekajjugo Nasser, successful brass instrumentalists. He traveled widely with the band in and outside the country, performing to a diverse audience. He however says that brass band performances exposed him to the entertainment world hence traversing his music hobby to a profession. The exposure came with the opportunity of meeting ‘big acts’ in the industry at a tender age that greatly inspired him. Shiddy has featured in five plays as (an actor, singer, dancer, back stage brass instrumentalist) mainly with Alex Mukulu. After recording his first single truck with Sudden Roots, he featured on several shows. He has shared the same stage with Jekaki Band, John Paul Samputu, Bobi wine, Blue 3, Peter Miles and Menshan, Mr. Mosh, Kid Fox, Chameleon, General Mega D, Bebe Cool, Tickie Tah, Emperor Orlando, Juliana, Amarula Family and his long time friends Mzee Helton X, Brian Marley, Dj Devine T , Sudden Roots and 2Deez. He was also in the same drama group with Straka Baibe while at High School. As a child Izaak Shiddy was inspired locally by Philly Lutaya, Shanks Vivi D, Steve Jean, Pastor Peter Ssematimba, Titan Takuba, Afrigo Band and the Limit X in their early days. Internationally it was Tupac Shakur Amaru Markavelli the Don, R.I.P Brenda Fassie and Bob Marley. He also enjoyed listening to Boyz 2 Men, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Brandy, Snoop Dog, R. Kelly, Luther Vandros, Awilo Longomba, Alus Mabele, Papa Wemba, Lucky Dube, Alpha Blonde, Dr. Alban, Swahili Nation, Mariah Carey and Buju Banton. But now Shiddy says that with the Globalization of Music the market is un predictable, any thing can be adored globally depending on time, space and place. So he likes the work of Antony B. a Jamaican Sensation, Akon, Snoop Dog, Shaggy, Eminem, Shakira, Oliver Mtukudzi, Eric Wainana, Youssou N’Dour, Angelique Kidjo, Alpha Blonde, Alex Mukulu, Achilla Orru, Maddox Ssematimba, Annet Nandujja, Ronald Mayinja, Mariam Ndagire, Peter Miles and Menshan, Bataka Underground, Blue 3, Kid Fox among others. Today Izaak Shiddy is a Solo artist under Sango Base Entertainment along side a chain of other Artists mostly up-stars with a cause for a positive social change. Singing style; Afro beat – Oyitangayo Album out 2008. Working on Another Album on which more collabos will be expected. Oyitangayo to rock the music shop shelves in Kampala soon followed by music concerts. He is great full to whoever is playing a role in promoting local music most especially urban pop music. This particular kind of music was not appreciated at all, not until the beginning of the 21st century graced with a millennium song to our dearly loved pearl of Africa. The East African Audience from the entire sister countries has now embraced urban pop from either countries, catapulting many artists to Stardom. East African Artists are having numerous performances all over the world to a diverse audience including; Africans, Jamaicans and friends of or lovers of African music.
