If the plot is compelling and thought provoking, or the cinematography is breathtaking, or both, then i will like it.
Television
Invader Zim. Not much tv watching happening anymore. The occasional Friends and Simpsons to cheer me up.Mighty Boosh because it rocks so much. And Black books :)
Books
Oh lots it would take too long to name all of them. Mainly however, Terry Pratchett, Oscar Wilde, Hunter S. Thompson. Recent interest in poetry too, which surprised me - especially e.e. cummings, Bukowski and Hafiz. Mythology and sagas, history stuff. At the moment I'm trying to finish Merlin by Stephen Lawhead, and I've started Njal's Saga, which is an old Icelandic epic from the thirteenth/fourteenth century.
