Live - Recorded 13th January 2008
My most recent original composition. I started with the chord progression and when mucking around improvising I came up with the intro melody. The song progressed from there and the chorus riff was originally a mistake, but I liked it so I kept it and wrote a harmony to it. My favourite part is the tap-harmonic build up to the epic solo and sweep. I also love the switching from 6/4 to 12/8 and the different effects it has on the feel to the song.
7/8 Experiment - Recorded 16th November 2007
I wrote the original riff just messing around and it took me a while to realise I was playing in 7/8 so I decided to test myself to write a song in that time signature. This was the result and I would absolutely love someone with a gruff voice to record vocals for it. This is extremely fun to play on guitar and very annoying and painful to play on bass :P
Harmony Experiment - Recorded 28th October 2007
I wanted to write a pirate song, which is where the intro came from, then I just started jamming after that and the song just went down some crazy path turning into a metal piece slowly getting crazier with breakdowns and buildups and stupid messy harmonised sweeping, hahaha. But it slows down and becomes quite epic. All in all a very stupid song but it keeps you guessing and I like that.
Epidemic - Recorded early 2007
This is one of my favourites, I'm a huge fan of harmonics and think they sound beautiful which is what I tried to achieve with this haunting piece. I played around with dissonance and some pad synths under the verses. I used a lot of clean guitars as opposed to distorted which is very different for me but I think it turned out beautifully. All it needs is vocals! The solo is stupid, it's not meant to be a foreground instrument, moreso something that adds to the songs hectic nature. You'll notice during the solo I played the same harmonic pattern as the intro but distorted, it gave a really awesome effect.
Shells - Recorded at some point early to mid 2006
This is a VERY old song. I recorded vocals for this a long time ago, but NO ONE is allowed to hear it. I didn't understand anything about scales, keys or harmonies. I just played what I thought sounded right and this is how it turned out. The guitar solo was through my old terrible terrible wah pedal and it's way too loud in the mix and is followed by some stupid extended country-like improvisation at the end.
Evening - Recorded Aprox. December 2005
This is an even older song, recorded back when I first got my electric guitar. It was very into the band Hot Water Music and wanted to imitate what I thought was them playing two different power chords at the same time. That's how the chorus and main riff was written, I didn't understand any music theory at all but it seemed to turn out alright, however simple this ANCIENT piece is.
B (Jeux Jaloux cover) - Recorded 19th March 2008
I had a lot of fun listening to and figuring out the chords, melody and harmony to this song. I wrote and recorded this the day after I got my wisdom teeth out. A great way to kill time, the sweep pattern is interesting and fun to me, I went over the top with some aspects of the song but I love the sound of sweet melodic harmonised guitars. Tonight (Feat. Jeux Jaloux) - Written 7th December 2007, finished 20th March 2008
I originally wrote the piano to this on guitar because I wanted to write a difficult riff with plenty of movement. When it turned out the way it did I transcribed it, turned it into piano and played around until I had some guitar chords and bass line working with it. The solos were improvised and at the end of the day I had a basic skeleton of the song. I sent it my friend Shannyn to write and record vocals for it and in the end it resulted being a combined effort with both her and her sister, Ilana (Collectively they call themselves Jeux Jaloux). After getting their vocal tracks down I re-recorded the solos and mixed and mastered it to the state you hear it now.

From what I remember I just wrote this song because I wanted something heavier in my arsenal of music. And although my lacklustre understanding of drums prevented it from turning out that great, I had a lot of fun writing this. That's what really mattered.

I hate this song.
During school I was propositioned to come in to the studio to record a solo for a band's contribution to the schools "Kool Skools" CD. This was the result and I'm shamed by it, but you're free to listen to my improvised disaster.

I have been creating music since late 2002, unfortunately this music was... techno. With friends we created some nuts songs from sampling people talking and voice clips from songs, games and other places.
I first picked up a guitar midway through 2005 and fell in love.

Thanks for that, I'll try and find it:) I wish I had done that! I wanted to do History but my teacher thought I wouldn't manage the homework because I got slack in one of the major topics I believe had no point. How stupid of me.
I wish you good luck! Are your topics hard? I love it, I think Metallica had it at one stage. I have been playing for a year but haven't gotten so far. I need to motivate myself more. I love playing it I just don't pick it up enough, same with books and homework..

This is the first time I've gotten to record within my brand spanking new ~ totally optimized Ashram / Asylum ~ & I must say with this updated digital recording facility & some new axes to grind ~ it is truly a luxury at it's finest ~ at least it is for me me me !!!!! So here it is ~ just a rhythm track I'd made over the last couple of days ~ in order to acclimate myself with all the new toys I now have at my disposal . . .
