Jabalina was born in 1993 as an independent pop music label dedicated to the release and promotion of Spanish bands of that style in any of its many possible expressions. It was thus just because we've always loved the colourful variations that pop music can nowadays have, not just a monochrome, purist approach. Just like the four seasons represented on our website: www.jabalinamusica.com. They define us absolutely!
Over the years we've looked for bands and artists with their own personality, not just the ones with archetypical features, and this search has been our main motivation. The result is a group of bands and artists with different points of views and sensibilities which have helped our label to come to life and form its own personality.
As a result, for more than a decade, we've helped consolidate bands such as Iluminados, Alias Galor, Baby Powder or The Yellow Melodies, all of whom had debuted in other labels. We've also lent a hand in their first steps to bands such as Venas Plutón, Onion, Loopside, Crank, Humanoid, The Umbrella-Hating Generation, Jonipai, Cassino, Zipi Zape, Dar Ful Ful, Zola, Humanoid, Portonovo, Lou Anne or Ama, all of whom got a place in their own right in the Spanish independent scene.
Nowadays, although some of the previously mentioned bands have ceased to exist, we're still alive and growing, and more excited than ever thanks to great bands such as Souvenir or Polar, all of whom have been acclaimed all over the world. There are more to come: Apenino, J'aime, Montevideo, Nadadora, Uke, Pumuky, Klaus & Kinski or Parade, all of whom, apart from contributing their growing renown and talent to our catalogue, guarantee a revitalizing dose of energy which will inject new life into the near, promising future.
We're aware of the fact that the number of enthusiasts of this way of understanding pop music is growing. This, and our determination in carrying on with a project that has more followers in every new season, have produced our website (www.jabalinamusica.com) and this Jabalina Myspace as a result, to help everyone follow more closely the trajectory of our 'javelin' and have better communication with its thrower.
