hey all.
so here's my observation for the month. there are 2 types of karaoke:
1) really bad karaoke that quite honestly induces pain upon listening, and
2) really earnest karaoke that takes itself way too seriously and subsequently sucks all the fun out of an evening
all of this leads me to:
3) if we have any hope of enduring karaoke, alcohol is not merely reccomended, it is requisite.
that's my story, and i'm stickin' to it.
that being said, this friday evening, jackdaw will make an encore appearance at staples (the bar, not the office supply store) at the end of allen street in downtown buffalo (across from nietzsche's and the bend, between allen st. hardware and the liquor store). excellent bartenders, great beer selection, cozy atmosphere. think charlie o's with more tattoos.
there will be some sort of cover, but we've got "shaky leg and the teardrops" as openers. i've been told they're a very good, social-distortion-esque three-piece. i've met their lead singer, jesse, and there's actually an amazingly amusing story behind the band's name. everything kicks off at 10. if you saw the last show at staples, you know it's well-worth the hassle of finding a parking spot on allen.
we'll be taking a little break after this show to work on the new album, so this will likely be your last chance to see us 'til the holidays.
other than that, i hope fall's treating you well, and let's toss back a few together this friday.

Well, I wish you all the very best! One of my very best friends in the whole world, I met because of Jackdaw! I got to experience Ireland because of Jackdaw. I had many, many good times with and because of Jackdaw.
