Jack Hopkinson - Over the last few years, the music industry has evolved in a way which allows the common man with extraordinary talents, to rise above the sea of similarity, and stand on his own as the voice of a generation. A generation that is fueled by heart filled emotion, passion and determination to succeed.
Jack was born into a family of Non-Musicians and it’s become a mystery of where Jack has found his musical talent. He is primarily a singer/songwriter but plays the accordion since a young age and also the saxophone from the age of 9 and has been on a BTEC ND in Music Practice at Stratford College. With a family that are tone deaf they have still supported Jack and nurtured the gift he has been instilled with.
Jack was a late bloomer to the world of guitar; he had wanted to play for a number of years and tried to play his older brothers old guitar which had rusted old strings and was impossible to tune. This all ended on his 14th Birthday when he got an electric guitar from his brother and Uncle. He says “the first song I ever played was “Wet Wet Wet’s – Love is All Around” and I played it crap and I was all out of tune and it just wasn’t good, at all… haha’. He then moved onto a number of other covers but found that it was “easier to sing his own songs and people wouldn’t notice if they were wrong or not.” During this period, Jack started playing at the Bear & Ragged Staff in Kenilworth each week and improved a lot and has even begun to run and manage the Open Mic Night at the Bear and Ragged Staff on Monday from 8.30pm to 10.30 pm. everyone is welcome.
Once starting to write his own material, he blossomed at school as well and found that he had found a place in the school society which made me feel happier. He then started GCSE’s in Music and got an A (the teacher predicted him a C, “I sure showed him!!”) once he left Kenilworth School he hit Stratford College. There he met a bunch of great musicians, Oli Jefferson of Blue Nation, Grant Fox of The Wrants, Andy B, he’s Mr. Producer Man (he lives up the road from me) Will Flint he plays guitar and Adam Parker the drummer of MILF and apart of your Breakdown. These guys were Jacks college companions they got Him through it and they are really nice guys and good musicians.
He has played a lot of gigs over the past 3 years and has done Wedding Anniversaries, Charity Events, Pub/Club Gigs (including the Coliseum in Coventry and Cox’s Yard in Stratford), Retirement Parties and Musical Competitions (the Royal Spa Centre, Warwick Universities Art Centre, Kenilworth School Talent Contest and College Bands Contest.
He has written some moving songs which pull on your heart strings and are full of emotion, he is about to enter the studio to record his first EP “All the King’s Sons” which will be able to be purchased online and at gigs. In the not too distant future. Keep listening.
hope y'all well
love back
