Here’s one musician that has worn a path on the road less traveled. Jack Minor, having grown up on a Texas cattle ranch, was scouted to play outfield for the Yankees, got a degree in Advertising and then took off to New York to be a stage actor. His leading man good looks, coupled with an innate gift for acting, landed him roles, but he was sidelined with illness that had him down for the count.
He’s hard to kill, though.
Jack headed west after got well, landed a plum role in a Sci Fi movie, and then figured out that what he really was, was a storyteller. Having stockpiled enough original songs in his brain to fill a grain silo, Jack was introduced to veteran record engineer/producer, Michael Vail Blum, and that lead to his solo release, “MINOR CONFESSIONS”.
A jambalaya of rockabilly, country blues and pure cowboy sensibilities, “Minor Confessions” has an old school feel. Jack appears to be channeling Johnny Cash with a touch of Jerry Lee Lewis, and the sincerity of a young Elvis Presley. The confessions range from lovin’ the ladies, to the anguish of loneliness, to the CD’s bottom line…survival. This is one Texas son who knows the meaning of gratitude. You could
mistake him for a new-ager, ‘cept for that tin of chaw in his boot.
Jack was blessed to have some awesome players on “Minor Confessions including: Dean Pleasant- Lead, Rhythm, Bass Guitar (Suicidal Tendencies/Jessica Simpson); Teddy Andreadis- Harp, Keys (Guns n Roses/Carol King); Gary Mallaber - Drums/Percussion (Van Morrison, Bruce Springsteen, Beach Boys).
“Minor Confessions” was Engineered and Recorded By Michael Vail Blum, Titan Records, Studio City, CA.
