Jack of Speed are a four piece rock band based in Dublin. Originally formed by school friends Mike Sleeman and Rhys Waters, they soon recruited another long time friend, Alastair Cross, on lead guitar and not long afterwards his classmate, Dan Stuart, on drums.
With a combination of a driving rhythm section accompanied by crunching guitars and catchy melodies Jack of Speed have been constantly striving to refine their sound by writing as many songs as possible. Each member of the band has their own unique influences ranging from the well known sounds of Radiohead and Queens of the Stone Age, old school favorites such as Led Zepplin and the Beatles, to more obscure acts such as Minotaur Schock and Explosions in the Sky.
Over the last few years the band have spent their time playing sporadic gigs in well known venues such as Whelans, the Sugar Club and Eamonn Dorans to name a few. The rest of the time was spent jamming, working on home recordings and trying to decide on a name!
Now in their mid twenties with their college years behind them, the band are looking to make an impact on the Irish music scene. With a new EP recorded and a new found sense of ambition (despite a recent spate of unfortunate injuries), they are looking forward to giving it all they can to promote themselves in the coming year.
For further information check out their website, myspace, or feel free to contact them directly.

Fantastic! This is beautiful news especially in a moment when I'm seriously considering either jumping off a bridge here in Lyon or pushing some 9 bands off it...(the second option sounds way better now that I think of it). I'm checking it out right now and I'll let you know, my dears.
Hey there MySpace friend, this is one of those shameless cut & paste promotional video comments :D Please feel free to tell me to "get the feck outta that!" or use my profile for the same reason! Roy :)

ohh..good..it's just that I really do need to get it off my mind. I've been waking up humming it for the past few days and I know the only way to prevent that from happening (for the next few weeks) is to have the actual song and to listen to it until I'm sick of it (my humming it is helping with the sickness though, but for a totally different reason..I wonder why when I hum it it doesn't sound as good...) ^.^
aright lads, we're finally ready to go with our debut EP, launch gig this Thurs in Radio City, Store St. D1. would be great if ye could make it down, cheers!
Man, you guys are good at the myspace. Not one but three replies! Fair play. Wish I could talk some of my lasy-bastard-good-for-nothing bandmates into doing some myspace.
Let us know when you're playing in cork. By the way, would you recommend the balcony tv thing?
